Hi MrsOT, sorry can't comment on FA Hamilton, but can say that the only way to correctly diagnose endo is with laprascopy, there is no way your GP can know for certain that you don't have it. Hope that helps

I don't know her, but in general FA Ham is good at what they do.

I personally would trust a fert specialist over a GP

Hi MrsOT
I went through Lakshmi and actually found she had more of a wait and see type of approach with me, however I like to know everything that is going on and found out your chances of conceiving are increased after doing a lap or hysteroscopy (which is what I had before my IVF round)
Where are you based? If you are in Tauranga I can recommend an awesome acupuncturist that specialises in fertility that is so knowledgable and lovely. Her name is Jackie from www.pureacunpuncture.co.nz
I do think that if Lakshmi is suggesting it then it would be good to get done, you may get this covered under your medical insurance if the reason is painful periods?

Mrs OT - I am with Lakshmi (Hamilton FA). She advised me to have a lap to check for endo as she strongly suspected I had it even though GP's had been telling me for years that I probably don't have it. So glad I went ahead with it as they found severe endo. The lap made a huge difference with monthly pain and I can now get by on Panadol only which is life changing for me. Go for it I say - particularly as you do experience quite a bit of pain each month

Mrsot I had one app with lakshmi, I then went on a.public wait list for a lap for suspected endo, wait in Hamilton estimated to be around 6 months was faster than that. Anyway found out I was pregnant just before appointment so didn't have it. Lap surgery is the only way to definitively diagnose endo so I'd do it. It's a day surgery done by key hole and most people I talked to said it wasn't too painful. Luckily in the waikato if you don't have health insurance and or $ to go private you will probably get accepted on the public which lakshmi said saves around $11, 000.
All the best
