Hey there!
Thought I'd just jump in here too but don't have a lot to say either..
Ben is doing amazingly. He gained 400 grams in his first week, no wonder with feeding every 2 hours! His jaundice is nearly gone and he's still really contented.
I'm healing up nicely, heaps quicker than I did with Ella.
Hubby went back to work on Monday and we seem to be managing ok. A few emotional moments when both need me at once or the sleep deprivation takes over!
Hope you're all well and looking foward to hearing all about the August Mums and Bubs!

CaraMel It sound's like thing's are going pretty much the same although thank goodness we go rid of the 2 hourly feeds the last 2 day's we have been 3 which is much easier Michael also had jaundice his is much better he is not looking quite so yellow. We went for our first walk with the double buggy and we got into most shop's so I was really pleased. We are off on our really big first outing today he has his hip check this afternoon and we are also going to outpactient's to visit all the ladies (my MIL worked there) they have been prob checking the hospital website to see if we had baby, but cause we had him at home they prob don't know so it will be fun also sad too I will prob cry man I miss her sometime's specially at the momnet. Both her boy's (BIL and hubby) are really sick and she would be really helpful at making them feel better or at least she could tell them what to do and they would listen. Talking about hubby I fee really bad at the momnet he is so sick and he has been so amazing and helpful he is too sick to go to work today, but he is still going we really can't afford to, but I think I will put my foot down and make him stay home. Oh my gosh now i have opened the flood     gate Dam I think my new Mummy high is wearing off.
Oh well must go ant Michael he is due for a feed.
Hope thing's continuse going well CaraMel and I look forward hearing from all you other Mum's.

to you Deb!!! (it is Deb isn't it? )
I hope you're feeling brighter now than this morning.
I know what you mean about the new Mummy high. I had an absolute shocker last night with it.
I had a bit of PND with my daughter so I'm trying to be really aware in case I start down that road again. I think mostly it can be attributed to sleep deprivation rather than PND at the moment though, the lows generally occur during a middle of the night wake up call!
It must be so hard for you, knowing how involved and helpful your MIL would be at this time. I hope you have a really special visit with the outpatients and that its not too sad for you.
We've got a midwife visit today, but not much else other than housework . I'm looking foward to seeing how much Ben weighs now!
Talk to you soon!

caraMel how was the vist with the M/W? How much did he weigh:? We had hip check today so I did that and that went well. I let M/W take him in I did not like it with Alan. Then I went down to visit my friend I needed time out from home Hubby came home sick. M/W came around this afternoon Michael was 7lb11onz so that is cool he is putting on weight M/W sent me to bed and told me to sleep it was good I feel so much better now.
As far as my BIL goes I rang his sis this morning cause I reall did not know what to do she was great and her hubby suggested he stay with them for a month so we have now got our house to ourselves which is just fantastic I love him to bits, but we really need a break from each other.
So we are feeling much better.

hi! i can join in now too!!!! and i have a very brief free moment while spuds are cooking, kayla is asleep and hubby is bathing the big girls.....

things have been going ok for me.... feeding had been getting a bit tiresome with 1 and 2 hour feeds too.... but kayla is now starting to space them out to 3 hour feeds, makes it soooooooo much easier especially at night, fingers crossed she has another good night.

as for me.... im getting better emotionally, man the tears have been flowing. been hit quite bad.

is it weird to not enjoy the last part of pregancy and then really miss it? i was talking to hubby about how i was feeling lasty night and the one word i could come up with was "closure" i thought holding my new baby would give me closure of some kind, but it doesnt feel like it!
argh ok heres the rush... kids out, spuds boiling..... i'll addd more later...

Poos I just wrote this huge post and the lost it I hit the wrong key dame it. I don't have time to write another one so oh well. Anyway I was jsut saying I am a littel worried that I have not been very teary (I know that seem's silly) its jsut I am worried it will all hit me at once when i least expect it. I had a small bit of PND with Alan, but I think that had alot to do with being in a new town with no support or anything where as ths time I have lot's of support. I am also lucky in that I have suffered with Depression and watched my Mum suffer all my teenage year's so I tend to recognise it and know how to stop it in its track's. Anyway I must get on I hope thing's start to get better rachel big
oh yeah we had the best weekend without my BIL I kinda hope he not come back, but if he does he will have to stick to some rules otherwise he can go back to his Dad's.
And some other good new's Hubby has a new job well its going back to his old one with better hour's so i am so pleased he will be back to 5 day's a week and still have sunday's off (we go to church so it will be nice to still go as a family) and he will be getting an extra $100 which mean's we can cope if my BIL does move out. So we are really pleased.
Oh well so much for a small post.

Hi Mummies!
Glad to hear you had a good weekend Deb, and yay for hubby working better hours! Fingers crossed you get your house back to yourselves for good huh?
Rach, I can't wait to see pictures of Kayla!
I so know what you mean about free moments being brief, It seems like everytime I get a minute to myself at the moment it is spent folding laundry or picking up toys or vaccuuming!
I didn't enjoy the last part of my pregnancy with Ella at all and then I really missed it when she was born, so I don't think you are weird for feeling that way.
I've also had some very emotional days since Ben's birth. Had a big cry to my midwife last week!! I'm writing it off to lack of sleep and hormones, I really hope not to go down the PND path again. Although I didn't have it very severely, I feel like I missed out on a lot of enjoyment with Ella because of it.
Ben is doing so well, he had gained another 50 grams at his check at the end of last week, and then another 250 today which brings him up to 4.250kg.
Last night he was an angel and finally slept for 3 hours, then 2 then 4! It seems so sad to be excited about 4 hours sleep in a row but I feel so much more human for it. Hopefully he'll keep it up
How are you guys coping with visitors? I am feeling so antisocial, aside from my family and a select few friends I really don't feel much like seeing anyone. Am I terrible?
Well I hope you and your Bubs are having a lovely day and enjoying some sunshine!

hi!!!...

again, a free moment! woohoo!   k, i have been thinking more (maybe i just think too much!) and what i came up with was maybe im just sad knowing that it was my last pregnancy/birth etc.... and really it went SOOOOO fast, it just doesnt feel like it should be over? i mean the pregnancy flew by, and the active labour was over so quick, it hardly hurt or anything maybe i was expectng more?!!!! then kayla was born, i was home and that was that! all of a sudden i feel empty, maybe its just that i dont have a baby in me moving and comforting me anymore? blah... i dont know. but i wonder if there is a way to make it feel like its all over?!

as for visitors mel- i have been the opposite, i have had like pretty much no visitors, and a feeling a little negleted!!!! not that i mind too much, i wouldnt want too many people around but i am suprised by the lack of it. i was going to have a bit of a birthday and baby welocm thing for my 25th birthday start of september but now im like who cares? so changed my mind.

on the up side, im not as teary today. but it seems we have all suffered a bit of depression in the past, and i just hope that we can all avoid it and really get to enjoy our beautiful babies this time. it really is yucky when you are so depressed.

feeding..... well kayla had gone 3 hours all day yesterday and from the night before, but last night the little monkey decided it was time to be awake from just before 12am-3.30am   lets just say it want a happy place at my place last night she was wanting feed after feed and wouldnt settle, cant go through that agin tonight, im pooped. she's been pretty good today though.

well take care
going to go check in on the pregancy board and see how the august mums-to-be are doing.

Hey ladies it really does seem thing a are ver similar for us all no spare time etc. As for the laundry don't get me started the weather is so bad here at the momnet we had a few nice day's back last week, but that was it. One little person make's so much work for us.
As far a vistor's go i am pretty much the same as you Rach thought I would have a few more jsut poppign in feeling a littel negleted although Mum call's in most Day's so that is my social interaction for the day.
As far asfeeding goes we are still doing well last night we did 2 4 hour streches so i git to get a bit more sleep. Michael is having a wee bit of trouble settling due to wind hte little Monkey bring's it up for everyone else no trouble just not me.
Alan is ok I am feeling quite mean cause I feel like he is jsut not getting enough Mummy time, but there jsut seem's to be too much to do.
Oh well its pay day so hubby getting chinese for tea can't wait not had it for so long so now I am off the feed Michael then ALan lunch then bed. Then I am going to sort throught cloth's.
Takce care everyone talk later.

Hi again!
Hope you've managed to catch up a little sleep after your wakeful night the other night Rachel.
I'm glad you're not as teary now, it does make it harder to manage when you're feeling so emotional huh?
Deb, I can't believe how much our washing has increased. I know it did when Ella was newborn too, but it just seems wrong that such a tiny person can mean a whole extra load of washing!
You're so lucky with your Mum coming to visit most days! She sounds so lovely taking you under her wing like that . My Mum works, but I usually get to see her on a Wednesday when she looks after my niece. Unfortunately my niece is sick today so no visit, boo!
Ella is sick too, darn it all. She's woken up all stuffy and coughing. I feel so sorry for her and am praying it doesn't spread to us!
I know what you mean Deb about feeling guilty about Alan. I keep telling myself I'll spend some quality time with Ella while Ben sleeps, but invariably I get caught up with jobs or something else and by the time I am free Ben is up again. I have been making sure we still get to do storytime together every night so at least that routine hasn't changed for her.
Ben is mostly managing 3 hourly feeds now which is a big relief after averaging 1.5 - 2 hours before.
He is settling really well on his own too. I'm really pleased about that as we used to have to pat Ella to sleep which was so time consuming.
Are any of you using something like gripe water or infant's friend with your babies?
Ben has been a bit spilly and my midwife reccomended trying something like that...
Anyway, enough rambling.
Hope you and bubs are all well!

Hi Mummies!
Hope you're all having a good day.
Wow Deb, you've got a little beefcake on your hands too huh?
Yay Michael for stacking it on
Hope you've had fun writing your birth story.
I've had a busy couple of days, friends visiting and errands to run.
I found it really difficult managing to get out of the house with 2 babies! Coordinating naps and feeds and nappy changes is no mean feat. I'm sure it will get easier with time...?
I had my midwife yesterday as well. Ben has put on another 200grams so has put on nearly a kilo since birth!
He's a great little guy and I am soooo in love with him.
I'm looking foward to some special time with Ella this weekend too, while Hubby is here to watch Ben for a bit. I haven't got anything particular planned but I'm missing her terribly despite being at home with her all the time!
Well I'd better stop sitting here at the computer, I can hear Ella stirring so should go get her afternoon tea ready.

hello!!!

how is everyones weekend going?
wee kayla is doing good.... and last night she let me have a wee bit more sleep than normal! yay!!!! had a 4 hour stint at the start of the night and the rest 3 hourly.... again! yay, she's really all over the place when it comes to night feeds though, some nights she goes every couple of hours...... hope that she can get into a good routine soon.

finding one feed during the night really difficult, one thats around 12-2am in that time, i am sooooooo struggling to stay awake and be bothered climbing out of bed to get her, anyone else?!!!

might just be im exhausted form the day running around after all 3 of my wee angels!

oh and yay! kayla's cord bit finally fell off yesterday morining, was hanging on pretty tight. her belly button is a bit yucky though, weepy and slightly smelly? what has everyone been using on their babies?

and as for the gripe water, were you asking mel? i have had to use it with my other two girls and it was fine.... more so with my first who was totally bottle feed with breastmilk for 6 weeks (i'd never do that again)
ok, i'm being called by miss almost 4 so better get to her....

hope to see chonny here soon now she's a mummy and hopefully linelle will make the august mums to.... 4 more days.... come on ethan!

i am sooooooooooooo tired! had a bad night, why wont my wee girl sleep more?!!!! argh! i am so tempted to try giving her a formula bottle tonight to see if that helps her sleep, i am just loosing all interest in the night feeds, and am really struggling to deal with her during the night. i love kayla to bits but this is a bit of a challenge! this morning after my very sleepless night my darling oldest woke me up nice and early, saying its morning mummy get out of bed! wah!!!!!!!!!!1

oh rach that really suck's. I am finding one noght feed really hard and that is our 12pm feed i think it is cause usually i have only been in bed for about an hour or so, but I am sao blessed with my wee man he is such a good sleeper and feeder. Alan was not so easy I gave up feeding at 8 week's with him cause I found it draining unfortunalty we went trough so much with him he gor really bad constipated for 6 month's on and off we enen had to go to a peditrition(SP?).   So I am really fighting ot keep feeding Michael although the last few night's I have wondered if just maybe one bottel won't hurt, but htat what I thought with Alan.
Anyway enough of my rambling Hubby is starting his new job tomorrow so we are all going to be up very early.
Well we have great weather here today so good day to do all my wasing must go take care all

hubby wants to give a bottle a go to, to help my sanity and give me some sleep. but then i wonder if i would give up breast altogether if i started down that path.... wondering if maybe my tiredness is affecting my milk?

oh! have you seen that linelle is having contractions?! yay for her! we'll be seeing her here sometime soon

Oh poor you Rachel! I can't really complain as Ben is mostly feeding 2.5 - 3 hourly but he is awake for about an hour now so I only get to sleep in 2 hour bursts.
Yesterday he started his 3 week growth spurt and decided he needed to eat every hour, that was pretty exhausting but thankfully my midwife had warned me and thankfully it seems to have settled now!
I was seriously considering a formula feed at night to try and get him to sleep for longer but I am also scared of him liking it better than the breast and not being able to feed him any more.
Midwife has suggested expressing a feed for Hubby to give at night, which would be great for him and me, but I have the same fear of Ben liking the bottle better!
He is having bed trouble with his wind lately, the gripe water is helping his burps but now his other end is causing him pain!
Poor little guy screams and pulls his knees up and strains so hard, I feel really sorry for him and wish I could help.
On a more positive note, he has gained another 100 grams and he is becoming heaps more alert and responsive. He loves his black and white book at change time.
Am hanging out for the first real smiles!
Hope you're both having a great day!
