Infertility chit chat

Thought I might start a general thread for everyone out there currently riding the infertility rollercoaster, no matter how far along it you are . Reason being that I lurk around here quite a lot but I'm not sure what is causing our secondary infertility or how to treat it, so I don't really know where I 'fit' IYGWIM?  And everyone seems so lovely, but all the threads in this area are split up into little groups of people, so I thought it might be quite fun to get everyone together as well?  And lure some other lurkers out too?   I'm definitely not trying to do away with the existing threads or anything like that at all BTW - this is simply meant to be an extra place for people to chat, hopefully on a regular basis?

Introductions first aye? Guess I'd better start....

DH (37) and I (31) have a wee boy Jimmy who is almost 18 months old. It took us one year from my last Depo injection to conceive him, and we've been trying for number 2 for the past 16 months with no luck. Think I was in denial about our infertility for most of that time. I've been taking Vitex and a herbal mix from a naturopath for the past two months, and had my first day 2 blood test at the doctors last week (still waiting to hear results). I can have scans at the local hospital, but will need to travel to Chch - a 3 hour drive - for any testing DH may require or any specialist appointments needed. Trying my best to stay positive, but have had to let go of the dream of having a small age gap between kids. It scares me that this gap is only going to continue to increase and, despite the endless drag of the 2 week wait, the months keep slipping by at an ever increasing rate...

 opps, sorry, didn't mean to end on a depressing note  Anways, I'm looking forward to *meeting* you all and hearing your stories. Rant, rave and yarn away!

I will come back tomorrow and tell you my story in more depth, but basically I have recurrent miscarriages, three in the last ten months, so frustrating and disappointing and I am hoping that Fertility Associates in Hamilton will be able to help me sort out what is wrong.

I'm a terrible serial lurker too, not sure exactly where to fit in, so this thread is great idea!

DP 38, me 35, unexplained infertility, ttc # 1 for almost five years!!! Crikey where did that time go.

First round of IVF Dec 08 through FA Hamilton, ended in early miscarriage Feb 09, have just started again with frozen embie, due for transfer in a week or so, so fingers crossed for a sticky one this time round!!

Hi guys, My Dh (29) and myself (28) have been trying to conceive #1 for 20 months. Got stuffed around by my crap GP before I had to assert myself and get seen by a FA specialist. Once there I was diagnosed with PCOS and found to not be ovulating. I was started on 2 cycles of 50mg and no Ov, then 2 cycles of 100mgs and I OV!! YAY However still no BFP, I am now on my 5 th cycle of clomid, taking 100mgs again since it worked last 2 times and am awaiting my day 21 blood test.

I hang out mainly in the clomid pill poppers thread but would love to hang out here too if thats ok Hopes, i think clomid may work for you but its just your othre mentioned probs that may put a spanner inthe works, my G.P (not the crap one, but the one I changed to that actually listened to me) said that while they are educated in clomid, specialists are the experts in that area. Fx that your Dr at FA prescribes clomid. I dont get too many side effects on them at all...

I read that you see a specialist in FA Hamilton, does that mean you have done IVF too? Or do they offer other services aswell?

I wanna hang out too! It took us 5 years to conceive out little man (the month before we were to start ivf) as I have a few issues re my tubes and so we only have a 1 in 3 chance of going it alone. We ditched the condoms last month and so are just seeing where it goes as I think we are both a little scared things won't happen again for us. Not such a big thing I know as we already have Alex but it is if you get what I mean. There are a few of us in Hamilton aren't there? FA here were great for us! We ended up having to go privately through VP Singh from there to have an op done on me as we were taken off the list thanks to our stupid health system.

 Reading your stories makes me realise what an impatient person I am, some of you have been waiting so long now or did wait for ages before having your first baby - respect . Looking forward to learning lots from you guys. 

Have definitely been in denial about my infertility until recently ... now I want to know what steps I can take to do something (anything!) about it.  Is anyone else trying to lose weight?

ETA - hehehe Hopes, just read your post now. Pretty sure our West Coast rainwater is OK, but I am starting to wonder whether living right next to the high voltage transmission lines is having a negative effect lol. The only other couple that I know of with fertility issues around here lives just down the road...

$220 sounds affordable... not that I'd like to pay that too many times, but it's not like the thousands IVF would cost. We've just (yay!) gone up to two incomes, and so we're squirrelling away everything DH earns just in case it's needed for baby-making or baby-related things.

On the weight loss - I went and checked out my BMI when I learnt we were having problems... it was within the normal range, but I could drop a few kilos and get it dead in the middle of the normal range (which I'm doing... more to feel like I'm doing someting than anything else!) I've also been helped along by the fact I've had a nasty bug this week, and lost a couple of kilos with that

can i hang out here too? what a great idea for a thread we had one ages ago about hanging out in limbo land lol but it was great that anyone with infertility troubles could hang out and chat with what ever stage they were at, so this one is fab! :-)

anyway i'm Lana im 28 and got PCOS and my DH is 37 it took us a while and lots of drugs (that didn't make me ovulate) to get pregnant with Rory and were booked for IVF last july and decided in feb that i wasn't going to do anymore clomid and have a few months off before we started IVF.....about 3 weeks later i got pregnant
Infertility is such a long hard road and i wouldn't wish it on anybody! so i really hope you all get that much longed for BFP and sticky baby that you all deserve! :-)

I'm feeling a bit like you Henna so so greatful to have our wee man but also have that what if i cant get pregnant again or have to go through all that again to have another baby, and if it came down to not being able to concieve again i would be hugely dissapointed and upset but also super greatful that we have our fantastic wee man, but yep its always in the back of my mind.....

anyway we are currently not trying but not preventing and just putting it all in the lap of the gods lol what ever is ment to be will happen...that is of course for now lol in another couple of years if nothing has happened i'll probably be questioning those gods hahahahaha

anyway after my novel....it will be good to get to know you all and follow and support your journeys
