 Topic: finger foods & no teeth

My 8 month old DD does not have any teeth as yet does this change what I can give her in regards to finger foods, so far she seems to be coping fine with things and "bites" bits off with her gums. I was thinking of giving her cooked peas and small bits of cooked carrots, is this ok?

We are doing baby-led weaning and my son has only finger food (eats whatever we are eating). Cooked veges, meat, sandwiches, toast...he's only started munching on things in the past week so he's still working on it but he seems to be doing ok with no teeth so far! I think because they have teeth under their gums their gums are better for chewing than an old person who's lost all their teeth, if that makes sense. That's my theory anyway lol.

Daniel didn't get teeth til about 9-10 months from memory, we gave him everything despite having no teeth. Their gums are pretty tough, they just aren't sharp so they still figure it out

It's amazing how hard those gums are. Stick your finger in there to find out! 
We were toothless at 8 months and I'm pretty sure they were getting peas at that stage.

Teeth make no difference to what they can eat - dear daughter only has 3 teeth now! She didn't get her 1st tooth until 11 months.

I have found it really helpful for introducing finger foods. Sirius has no top teeth, so I was a bit worried about him being able to chew.

DS only just has one tooth and prefers finger foods to being spoon fed. He has learnt recently (after weeks of gagging, throwing up etc) to gum the food, then spit out the big bits he can't swallow. Pretty clever! Pretty messy too. But it was a process of him learning this himself.

Caden only had 4 1/2 teeth at nearly 14 months old and he can eat most things. He was having pea's and stuff when he only had his bottom teeth at Heidi's age, and they dont help with eating lol, as they use their back gums to chew "gum" the food.
She will be all good, Caden crunches up biscuits with his gums! Like the others have said, their gums are really tough!

I let Arianne try toast before her teeth came through, she seemed fine with it and she still makes a big mess with 2 teeth.
