For those that have trialled Soy formula & yogurt what were the reactions.

Cooper is doing a foul poo within 15 mins of eat/drinking it. I would have put it down to something else except his poo was really nicely formed. Gave him soy yogurt (organic one) and then he did this poo.

I'll be phoning up Nutricia & the hospital tomorrow to talk to them as well.

How long has he been on the soy

sometimes it can take a couple of days for their systems to get use to a new formula.

But it could also well be a sign that he wont tolerate it.

Cory was on Soy for a while, and while he didnt react to it as such, he didnt like it either

Nutricia said give it a full 2 weeks, he's been about a week so far.

Mayo Clinic notes have diahoria as a food allegy reaction if it happens within an hour.

He's just woken so will give Soy bottle & see if it happens again.

Have you put him on soy because he won't tolerate a cow's milk formula? Often if a baby has a cow's milk intolerance they also have a soy intolerance. What about trying the HA formula?

Yep Saffron, haven't tried him on a cows milk formula cause he reacts to dairy via my BM. Tried on goats formula & he reacted to that.

Have an allergy test in 3 weeks.

Still not sure if he's got a soy intolerance as he's been sick the last week.

My daughter is allergic to dairy and soy. Soy allergies aren't very common, but can be triggered by people introducing it as a milk substitute in young infants. The signs of intolerance for my DD were the runs and she gets a rash around her mouth.

If your DS has a dairy protein allergy he'll won't be able to tolerate goats milk either. Sounds like he might need neocate, which has been a life saver for us! Hope you get some answers with the allergy test. Are you getting skin prick or a RAST done?

Goats milk is really smiliar to cows milk...if he is reacting to those milks, you will probably find that the pead puts him onto neocate, which is what Cory is on and we havent looked back.

Although it turns out that Cory doesnt have a dairy allergy, but all the formulas effect his eczema, and neocate is the only one he doesnt spill/throw up on

My son has the cow's milk protein allergy and so we put him on the HA formula as it is partially hydrolysed to change the protien. My daughter is lactose and soy intolerant and we put her on DeLact, we tried Neocate but she just wouldn't drink it.

Kabe, that sounds like what C has. He has spots around his mouth & around 15mins after a bottle has the runs.

Not sure what test we'll get done. We are seeing the allergy specialist on the 15th. I'm hoping to be referred to the dietitian.

hi my sone is 22 months and he has FPIES and he reacts also to dairy and soy (along with eggs, rice and chicken and barley)protein. we are on neocate advance and it is the only thing he can have, FPIES is non ige allergy so it is not the anaplatic kind, no ezema or rashes. It burns the inside and causes the lining of the bowel to come away, like pulling the plug out of the bath. Within two hours of injesting the 'bad' food, you get very smelly acidic poos that burn and take the skin off with it also green and smelly is not nice and painful for them, dont know if this helps but google FPIES and it might give you some food for thought and if there are some questions to ask the allergy and dietitian specialists
hope this helps and good luck!!

That is interesting Drumstx! & hugs for what your son is going through! I'm on a email list with my diet & a lot of kids are like your son. I think there is a neocate email support group where most of them are as well.
