Hi everyone...
Had a spot of bleeding last night and went along for a scan today. Turns out there is a teeny bub but no heartbeat. So it looks like I am off the due date list...

Thanks for all your sympathy everyone... it really means a lot to me.
I need some more help...
After my scan yesterday, i was booked in for a "clinic" on Monday. This is basically where I get a D&C. I started bleeding (very lightly) yesterday so had to go into the A&E. They were intent on doing a D&C then but when they tried to put a drip in my hand in didn't work, same thing for a drip in my arm. At this stage I was so worked up that I couldn't handle anything more so they let me leave as my bleeding was not bad. they have told me to go back if I start bleeding heavily. I am still booked in to go in and get everything done on Monday.
I don't think I can go through with this. My mum is baffled as to how I can give birth to a ten pound baby with no pain relief but can't handle a needle. But I honestly don't think i can do it, the D&C to me is far too invasive and I would cope better letting it go naturally. I now know what to lookfor in terms of signs that i must go to the hospital and will if need be but i am hoping not to.
My question is this, for those of you who have miscarried, have you had the D&C or has it happened naturally? My midwife is very supportive of letting me go naturally but I need reassurance. Please tell me that this will be ok?

What a horrid time for you I havent had a miscarriage but from what i understand the worry is that the baby wont come away naturally and that you will hemmorage. If you really are against getting the D & C done you should talk to an obstitrician (Sp)about your risks etc. You will prob need an internal (like after giving birth) to make sure all the placenta etc has come away. You really do sound like you need more info to make a decision!

Hi Anna, although I had bleeding when I miscarried I also had a D & C just to "make sure". I am usually freaked out by needles etc. but I think I was still too shocked to resist really. I am glad I had it done though because firstly it made sure everything was cleaned out and secondly they could do tests to make sure everything was ok. I had to stay in hospital overnight but Peter was there almost the whole time and really supportive. Look after yourself.

Hi I am so sorry for you.. My love is coming your way, I have had 4 m/c 2 naturally and 2 d&c, 1st 2 where ok but with 2nd 2 I developed a temp and didnt feel to flash so had d&c to make sure it was all out ok and so i didnt risk infection, I hate needles to but before i had them thay gave me some tablets to helpme relax, ask for them if you decide on a D&C it makesit alot easier to cope...
Im so sorry for you..
