My daughter turns one late June and I am no baker but I am going to make my daughters first birthday cake so has anyone got a no fail Number One birthday cake I can make.

i got a tin off trademe last year from occasioncakes? that is in the shape of a number 1 it was really nice

Grab some pre-made sponges and shape them into the number 1 and go nuts decorating!!!!

I just hired a tin from a local cake decorating supplies shop in Hamilton. And then used one of the Cadbury's cake mixes. Here is the finished result:

Kelly, mum to DD, 19Jun06 (26wks 1lb15oz) DS1, 24Oct10 (32wks 4lb11oz) and DS2, 31Dec11 (32wks, 4lb11)

I have to bake the first birthday cake on Thursday, oh the pressure! Apparently the cake recipe in the Aussie Womans Weekly Birthday Cake book is fail safe, tossing up whether to use that or a Cadbury or Betty Crocker packet cake, they are always good

i often use the chocolate mudcake mix from bin inn its yummy and like the betty crocker etc.. ones too, nice and easy
