    Posted: 03 July 2008 at 12:34pm
Luke is intolerant to cow's milk and all dairy products.

He is on rice milk now, he loves it but it's low fat.

Just wondering if anyone's elses toddlers on it?

Does anyone know if there is a full fat variety.

Any ideas of how to add fat to his diet ( this sounds strange but because he's not having chesse or cows milk was just wondering)

TIA

I saw a rice milk in countdown that had added protein and another one with added calcium (i think). So you could have a look out for those, sorry I can't remember the brand, we haven't had to go that route yet as paed wants Spencer to stay on neocate until 18months.
Would soy yoghurt etc help make up for the lack of diary a bit as well? Not sure how much fat etc is in soy. What about coconut milk? I think avocados are high in fat also.

Our dietitian advised us to give Ella soy milk on her cereal, etc, instead of rice milk, as it has lots more calories - she said to go for the full fat version and one with added calcium. It's not her formula supplement, though. As for the extra fat in his diet - soy yogurt (Ella thinks this stuff is amazing!), lots of avocados if he'll eat them (I've been making guacamole here to make them more interesting, and that way she gets a bit of tomato, onion and lemon into her while she's at it), bananas are good for fat too. Good luck! If you want to try the soy but he doesn't like it, you could try mixing it with the rice milk for a while and see if you can trick him into it.

Maya was on rice milk as a dairy supplement from about 22 mths when we weaned her off the formula. I used to get the Vitasoy Potein Enriched one (green box), but it is still low fat.
