noah has always had really bad excmea i have been to my doctor plenty of times about it (though i dont think he really listens to me as hes always really busy and just trying to get paitents through). anyway i went to the bathroom in town today and a litlle while after that bub was on my knee as i was eatin and trying to get my fingers into his mouth about 10? mins after that he got these big red blotchs all over his mouth and face i was in the cemist and they said it may have been allergic to the soap on my hands,(hes has oil for baths and everything becouse even baby soap gives him excma) and to just keep an eye on it. it went away after a while but now his whole body is all welting up and red its a huge flare up and it looks so so painful! i have stuff for it but i feel like this is getting out of control. and its a hard thing to sit by and watch. should i go back to my doctor or get a new one? or should i go and get a skin test thing? if so where do i get those? anyone got any good natural remidies for it.

i just gave him a bath and its everywea except his nappy area so mayb its his clothes as well?

If its an allergic reaction, which is definatly sounds like with the welts, it does spread everywhere not just the area that touched the thing that caused the allergy.

It would definatly be owrth seeing another GP as it sounds to me as its already been an ongoing abttle you should be under a Paediatrican. You could ask you current Dr for a referral, but sounds like u would be happier seeing a diff GP anyway.

The GP or Paed can arrange allergy testing. How old is he? Allergy testing is not usually accurate til bubs is at least over 1 year.

It is sound like allergy reaction. See GP.

I suggest seeing another doctor. They probably wont give you any other creme except hydrocortizone (sp) but you could try your local health shops for non steriod products.

Not sure if they will send you for an allergy test with baby being so young.

Sorry to hear you having such a hard time....its along battle and it can be quite draining at times. Good Luck, hope you find some answers soon!

Are you breastfeeding or bottlefeeding him?
Just thinking of eczema might be food related via your breastmilk if he is fully breastfed? all my three children's eczema was bad while I was breastfeeding them till I remove some food from my diet like milk, egg, peanuts etc and their eczema either improved or disappeared after that.

Try no dairy to see if help improve his eczema? allow 2-3 weeks before notice any effect.
My friend's 8 months old baby had very bad eczema, just ecently she found out it was dairy causing the problem. Herself and OH had eczema as babies too.
