Question for those more experienced mummies:

I had thought (and doctor suggested the same thing) to try to wean Ryan off his Omeprazole at 6 months. HOwever...he is still spewing quite regularly and the spew is that nice chuncky spew that indicates acid is still coming up. Do I dare try to wean him? Does it maybe not mean anything that it's chunky?

The reason I ask is cause he'll be starting daycare at 6 months and I don't know if I can possibly handle trying to wean him and going back to no sleep at night if his reflux comes back.

I suppose I could wean and then go straight back on the same dosage but just wondering if I should even bother since he obviously still has the reflux...

If hes still chucking I'd keep him on it for a while longer and try again later

I would leave him on it until he's more settled with the chucking, or at least until he's crawling as that's often a time when it settles a bit more. I wouldn't do both at once Megan, it's too much for you to have to deal with

Agreed! That's what I was beginning to think. Perhaps I'll try around 7 months.

Maybe leave it til he's more upwardly mobile??

If he's still chucking does that mean his "flap" isn't working properly yet?

I would have thought so - and also the fact that it's coming back chunky makes me think there is definitely still acid coming back up...

My sons reflux had pretty much gone by around 8 months so it was around then that we took him off Losec. Yeah i'd wait a bit longer, it sounds like he still needs it.

Yep, don't bother weaning. As he starts solids, he may have a few more problems with his reflux so it can pay to keep them on it over that time. Dan weaned about 10 months I think
