I'm trying to decide whether to take Miss 3 to the doctor. She seems very low in energy. She sometimes has boundless energy but it only comes out it something is very exiting or she is very overtired...the hyperactive overtired kind of energy.

At present she is sleeping through the night more often than not (i.e. we don't hear her doing her rocking and shouting thing) and sleeps from around 7.30pm to 8.30am. When she gets up she immediately clings her to muslin (her blankie of sorts) and sucks on it which she used to only do when ready for sleep.

She is hard to engage in activities as she is tired so sits around a lot sucky her muslin and asking for TV.

If we are out and about she will fall asleep in the car by 11am or so. If home, and a sleep is offered, she will sleep for 3 hours.

By about 3pm her behaviour is very much that of an OT child.

Is this level of tiredness common at this age or should I take her to the doc?

I think I remember from another thread that Miss G is not a big eater? Perhaps getting her iron levels checked might not be a bad idea?

Yeah she hardly eats any iron rich foods at all. She has been on and off iron since 11 months old but last few times her iron has been checked it has been fine...no idea how! She may need another check though. She has eaten meat / iron rich foods all of about erm, about 5 times in the last few months.

You say she is sleeping through because you dont here her rocking etc....is she actually sleeping? Or is she waking lots but you arent hearing it. She could be extremely sleep deprived....you know how people with sleep apnoea get? Though I dont like the thought of staying awake yourself to find out

Ok NZpiper that is scary! I just have discovered that no, she isn't sleeping. She is wide awake...gets up, potters in her room, takes of her pjs, puts on dress-ups, plays with dolls etc. She does it silently.

Oh good. A new odd behaviour to deal with. JOY! Where to start....
