Congratulations & welcome smw85! How exciting for you & your husband/partner! I hope you have a healthy & happy 9 mths ahead!

And yay mum21 - you have a due date buddy!

As for mw's smw85 - whereabouts in NZ are you if you don't mind me asking - I know here in Akl the really good mw's get booked up really quickly hence why you pretty much book one as soon as you get your bfp! Also being in the New Year quite a few may be away on holiday (especially if they worked stats hols through Christmas) so I certainly wouldn't be waiting until 15 weeks to book someone!

Also mw's are a great point of contact should you have any medical concerns (especially through the 1st trimester - when every little cramp or spot can turn us into emotional wrecks - which isn't good for either you or your little bean).

Appy - I'm still over the moon for you - this will be a lovely sticky bean - I just know it!

AFM - Well its 4.30am - I have pretty much woken up every morning between 2-4am since getting our bfp & can't get back to sleep (which makes getting up at 5.15am soooo much harder). Still only 2 days of traveling across Aks to school & then I can start relieving & then applying for jobs closer to home...bittersweet really - I love my class & school but the travel too hard...considering I'm so emotional I hate to think what I'm going to be like on Friday 3pm - I haven't told anyone at work about being pg so they are going to think I'm crazy when I burst into tears everytime I say goodbye to someone - gesh!

I can't wait to go to my Year 8s Graduation mid Dec - I'll just about be ready to pop & they'll be so surprised!

Congrats smw85! We are due date buddies - woo hoo!

I think Wannabe said it spot on re the MW situation. The good ones do get snapped up fast, however, its not common practice to have a MW appiontment this early. So I would start looking around by all means but be prepared to not see her until 10 weeks if she is really busy. Definitely don't wait till 15 weeks like your friends said, unless you want to have shared care DHB midwives!

Also, keep in mind that maternity care is free with your GP so if you wanted to confirm your pregnancy with a professional (for peace of mind or whatever) you can go there.

Wannabe - awww it must be hard leaving kids after spending all this time with them! What a cool suprise though showing up at their graduation with a great big belly

Welcome and congrats smw85, I know alot of MW's don't see you till at least 10weeks mine just seems to see you as soon as you ring her, and again in 4 weeks. Like the other girls said if you want to go to the doc to confirm go for it, don't listen to anyone else do what you want to do.
Wannabe no I'm not with Danielle, I'm a westie and am with Gail Kiss.

Thanks for the kind thoughts & well wishes everyone..

Wannabe how exciting for you - you could very well have one of the first NY's babies! Congrats to didi99 & smw85 on your first bubbas & to mum21 & Appy2 for your seconds!

As for me, the Dr wasn't really able to calculate my EDD by LMP because my last AF was 12.03.2010 & I'm only 3-4 weeks atm... instead he added some numbers up judging by my hCG levels & for now he's going by a due date of around January 18th 2011.

Are any of you other due-in-2011 ladies under 25yrs old?

ETA: just changing my name from jjrich

Click on my signiture, it will open a new page and you can design your one there. Then get the IMG code and copy paste it into the signiture box in your profile on here. To get to your profile, its the little tab at the top right of this page.

Hope this helps!

Also, I'm under 25 too!

Haha I'm still trying to figure out the signature thing..

Just did my first POAS test. I only found out I was UTD the other day cos I had some bloods taken (for other reasons, I didnt even know they were testing hCG at the time)... so just got a hpt on my way home from work tonight.

Did the piccie work!? Do you think its a bit faint? Its not FMU & I only "held" my urine for 2hours (plus had lots of water).. does it look ok? Sorry for sounding so sketchy but I'm just still pinching myself to make sure this is real...

Anyway how are you other ladies feeling tonight? Are your symptoms getting stronger now? I'm noticing things are smelling a bit funny, I'm going toilet all the time & my boobs are sore as hell. Would love to know what everyone else is experiencing

Oooh DP just txt me saying he's bringing home Sherlock Holmes on DVD to snuggle up in bed & watch. I love these nights!

Wannabe is your partner under 25 too? Both DP & I are. We're just tryna work out & plan now who's gunna stay at home/who's gunna keep working etc. Scary but exciting!

Hey youngmumtobe! That test looks great! Mine were really faint too last week and I was the same as you...pinching myself to see if it was real or not lol. I actually think yours is pretty dark considering it wasnt even FMU and you drunk loads of water

I POAS yesterday morning and the test line came out as dark as the control line within 1 minute so I was so pleased...I thought I was imagining things for awhile there!

As for symptoms, I have none except a missing period which suprises me because with my DS I was sick as from day1. I do wonder though if its because Im so busy at the moment and I 'forget' Im pregnant so its not really on my mind as heavily as it was first time around iykwim.

Oh and let me know what you think of Sherlock Holmes, I have it on DVD but haven't got around to watching it yet....also not sure if you meant wannabe or me, but yeah my husband has just turned 25 and I've just turned 24
Deciding who stays home/goes to work is a tricky one, I know some days I wish I could go to work to have a break!

How exciting this web forum is – seeing what changes are happening to you all – it is pretty similar to what I am going through (and putting my DH through!) Young mum to be, I hear you about the very sore breasts – it is incredible how sore they are!! But I haven’t had any smelling issues yet – that would really ruin a good appetite!   Good luck with that!

Wannabe thanks for all your advice, after reading your comments I rung up and booked a Doctors appointment for lunchtime, and my blood results have already come back showing 1412 HCG so ya it is official!   I am in Hamilton, so won’t be as crazy to book in a midwife as in Auckland hopefully, but good point about xmas and holidays. Might give one a ring tomorrow.    Oh but good luck for your last week at school, it must be sad but you are doing the right thing working closer to home! All the best!

Ya Mum21 for being duedate buddies Since this is your second you will know what you are doing, might just follow your steps... I see you have a scan for next week – you must be excited! What can you expect to see then?

Young Mum to be I am under 25 (almost – turn 25 in a couple of months!) my husband had just turned 25. It is neat to see some other young couples having babies on this website - it is a bit scary when young but look how excited we all are! And my very amateur opinion on pregnancy tests your test looks fine – because you drunk heaps of water it tends to dilute the results.   My very first test was faint like that, then the next two were alot stronger. First thing in the morning pee gives the strongest results

So who is thinking of names at this stage? And if you will find out sex beforehand?

PS: Hope Sherlock Holmes was great can’t wait to see it!

Good morning pretty ladies!

Sorry mum21, yes I was meaning to direct that question at you about your partner being under 25 - duhh me!! - maybe I'm getting a case of the baby brain already, haha... anyway, I'm nearly 21 & my partner is 23. It's nice to know there are some other 20-something-year-old parents-to-be out there to relate to

Personally I couldnt even count a missed period as one of my signs or symptoms. I havent had a proper period for about 4 or 5months now so everything's been a bit haywire. Needless to say, I was in a little bit of shock when I found out we were UTD this month!

Thanks smw85, I bought a pack of 3 hpts, so I might use FMU tomo & compare the difference to last night's test. I've put that first one away in a special place though - lol some people might think it's a bit yucky cos I obviously pee'd on it - but it's special to me so I'm gunna save it.

We havent talked about names or anything like that yet... I think we're gunna wait until the first scan. DP just wants to be really safe/doesn't wanna get his hopes up just in case things dont work out. But I think we'll def find out the sex when we can so that we know what we're preparing for!

Are all of you girls employed atm? I work full time & DP is studying atm (this'll be his second qualification). By the time bubs is due DP will be out of Uni & working full-time next year. I'm not sure whether I'll come back to work part-time or not, but it might help I suppose. Has anyone looked into maternity leave etc yet?

ETA:

PS. Sherlock Holmes movie was very good - would recommend to all! I think Robert Downey Jr is a bit of a babe, too..

Evening ladies

Hey Bexs, thanks for popping in, I hope this is the one as well, we worked darned hard enough for it

I think I will most likely be the oldest of the Jan '11 mums (at 40 ), my son is 15 so has been a wee while since he was a newborn so no doubt Im abit rusty

I have been married to my lovely husband for a little over two years and we have been trying for a baby for nearly three years and have suffered three miscarriages along the way, so we are really hoping that this little ivf miracle is the one, fx

I am looking forward to getting to know you all, we are self employed dairy farmers so no maternity leave for me, but thats ok, Im essentially a sahm

I have the sorest (.)(.)'s and can't sleep on my tummy at night, lots of little niggling twinges around my uterus and sometimes get abit of yucky reflux, oh, and have been eating like a horse, must get control of that lol

Hope your all doing great tonight, must go off and find a ticker.

Hello jan mummies!

smw85 - Im not really sure what I'll see at the scan next week, I had a dating scan with my son at 6+3days and there was a nice strong heartbeat
I'll only be 5+1days at my scan but they said for me to just go back in a week if we dont see much.
As for name, we have a few both love so it will be easy to pick but no, we wont decide till the birth day when we find out the sex.

young mum to be - I kept all my HPT's too, I dont think its gross at all! I have a beautiful pregnancy journal that I got from Whitcollous when I had my son and I put all those kinds of things in there. Its nice to look back on.

Also, take a photo of your nice flat non mummy tummy now! Just speaking for myself, my tummy will never be the same after kids!

appy - Wow, what a journey you and your DH have been on TTC. I bet this one is a sticky one
Sounds like you have a nice array of syptoms there too

As for working fulltime etc, Im a student midwife actually lol. I also trained as a breastfeeding counsellor so I do a bit of that too Both keep me nice and busy!

Good morning ladies!

Well I'm officially unemployed & no more traveling across Akl to school. Will be looking for a school much closer to home next week but quite happy to relief teach so I can take days off for scans & tests etc.

Appy - ditto - I'm 40 (DH is 35) & this is #1. We've been trying for nearly 4 yrs so this peanut really is our little miracle. Especially after being turned down for public funding IVF in Dec & then sitting at Fert Plus 4 weeks ago getting info on starting IVF for when we get back from holiday in early July.
So I'll be following your pregnancy closely to see if us 'older' mums have similar symptoms! I soooo hear you on the sore (.)(.)s. I can't jog & have to wear a bra to bed already - only gone up 1 size though. No MS, lots of CM (sorry TMI) & a few twinges in my tummy/side but hoping thats only ligaments stretching.

Roll on Monday lunchtime for our 1st 7wk scan - then it might actually sink in we finally did it!

DH at work til tomorrow morning - chick flicks on the menu for rest of the day & evening...bliss!
