Yes Appy I agree - we're not buying anything until 2nd trimester too - I'm still swaying towards waiting until we get back from 2 wks o/seas (I'll be 14 wks by then) until we tell family. DH wants to tell them next weekend with a copy of tomorrows scan as an intro... provided it all goes well of course!
To be honest I've been having nightmares of blighted ovums, empty sac's, ectopic etc for 2 weeks now - just can't sleep through the night anymore so tomorrow will be a reality check for me hopefully! Then I might feel better about telling family & closest friends in a week or so... we'll see I guess!
Trying to stay positive but I'm just soooo anxious... is this normal or am I just being a complete drama queen who needs a jolly good slapping???

wannabe hun, that is so completely normal and healthy to have those thoughts. I think every woman has hideous 'what ifs' running through her mind in early pregnancy. It shows how loved your little bean/s will be

Totally normal And sometimes I think it's best to be prepared for the worst, but to hope for the best. I had some spotting at 7/8 weeks last time, and was convinced it was all over, but everything turned out fine.
I think we'll tell people much earlier this time around - we waited till about 13 weeks last time, but it was so hard waiting that long, and I figure if anything does happen, I'd rather people would know so they could be somewhat supportive.
Just booked in with a midwife, and she's sending out forms for blood/urine test and early scan. Won't actually meet her till about 10/11 weeks, but at least half our coffee group has been with her, and they all love her! Wasn't totally happy with my midwife last time, so will be interesting seeing how different things are with this new MW. Will probably wait till about 7 weeks for the scan, as I want to make sure it's late enough to see the heartbeat
Feeling nauseous all day, but pretty low-grade, and nothing that's really bothering me. Will be up late again tonight lesson planning. sigh.

Lurker here from the September due thread. Wannabe I was the same when I got pregnant, every twinge felt like AF starting, only did a home preg test so was always worried it had been wrong, was paranoid up til 12 weeks basically thinking what it if wasn't there anymore. Luckily have a friend who is a sonographer who took me in at 6 weeks and scanned me and got to see heartbeat and know it was real, felt ALOT better after that but still worried til 12 weeks in case it didnt stick. Bet you will feel miles better after your scan tomorrow :-)

Thanks Mum21, Blondy & Fox01 - paranoia settling a little.
I think its because being 40 yrs old & this being our first (and being told 4 weeks ago from Fert Specialist [before we found out we were UTD] we only had a 1-2% chance of getting pregnant on clomid & a 50% chance of MC'ing if we do) that my mind keeps playing games with me...
Roll on 12.40pm so I can relax (a little).
Sorry for those who are feeling a bit , I haven't had any thank goodness - just mega sore (.)(.)
Hope you're feeling better soon chickadees!

Welcome to everyone and congrats on all you BFP's.
Wannabe I'm sure you will feel better after the scan, will be thinking of you and like Appy hanging out for an update.
OK so what else has been talked about........ I'm 29 and DP's 31 so kind of average I guess age wise.
We have already told our close family and friends. We did last time as well and I didn't regret telling anyone at all as I really needed the support when it all went pear shaped.

Hey asics,no bloods today, my next bloods are this Friday. So it seems I will just do them every Friday and then a scan at 8 weeks, would love to have an earlier scan but I guess it doesn't change the outcome and the bloods will give me an indication every week of how things are looking

Awesome hun, there's loads of us out there cheering you and bubs along, you're off to a good start though aye!!! Yeah I only got the one scan at 7 week and then next one at 12 weeks. Though I would have thought with IVF they might have given you an earlier one, just goes to show how you assume things.

Hey Asics I probably could get an earlier scan but no doubt would have to pay extra for it so may as well wait. Not that I have much patience in the waiting department lol

Waiting on the scan results too!
Weird about having to pay for the early scan - last time my GP gave me a form, and this time the MW I've booked is posting me a form (even though I've never met her! ) - and all scans were/are free.

Blondy if I went to my gp I could probably get an early scan for free, but I am with Fertility Associates and yep they charge for most everything if you are paying privately
I would consider going to my gp but ahhh well being under FAH I will probably just wait lol
