Hi girls,
Hope everyones enjoying the sunshine today
I went for my dating scan this morning and it went okay...all we could see was a gestational sac and yolk sac, but no fetal pole as yet.
So this is where it gets interesting....My hcg levels came back today at 61000 so have risen well above the 532 last week
Next thing, the sonographer tries to date my pregnancy at 3 weeks gestation!! Which would mean I would have had to of ovulated last week!!
I nicely pointed out to her that the gestational sac doesnt form until the 4th week and the yolk sac till 5 weeks.....as well as the simple fact that the last time I had sex was the 16th of April My hubby works away so unless this is an immaculate conception LOL Im pretty sure I ovulated around mid April!!
So yeah, thats my mystery for the day...I am booked in for another scan on the 1st of June so I guess all will be revealed then.

Dh and I bought a house end of last yr and it has worked out really well for us all I would say is make sure that you only put in what you can afford and don't go overboard as it is easier to work ur way up the real estate ladder. Dh and I were lucky and we got in at the right time and price which has meant we r paying $50 a week less in mortgage, rates, insurance than we would bevif we were renting.
Congrats wannabe on twins

Hopefully your next scan will reveal more Mum21, kind of nuts when you know more that the sonographer though and have to "enlighten" her.
I had a call from my mw today to let me know my blood tests have come back excellent. Funny though she didn't tell me the actual numbers for my HCG levels just that they are definately increasing fantasticly.
So that has put my mind at rest for this week so am now thinking I am going to save my early scan till next week.

young_mum_to_be - DH & I both owned our own houses down in Palmy prior to meeting. We've kept them & rent both out. DH is in the Military so we rent one of their houses up here - so it's not worth having a 3rd mortgage as we don't know how long we will be up here (2-3 yrs I imagine).
I sooooo hear you too on the sore (.)(.)'s - I too have to wear a bra to bed - but I'm only just starting to overflow my C cups - have a looonnnggg way to go before I'm Playboy material
Hmmmmm Mum21 - I think I'd stick with your dates!!! Ther Fert Specialist didn't even give us a due date - he said we're due 1st week of Jan however he expects being twins they'd come in early Dec! But I'm gona stay here & flit into the due in Dec thread to get a heads up on what their twins mum is going through a coupla weeks ahead of me!
Well I relief taught today at a low decile 1 school - I'm completely shagged - I miss my decile 9 kids at my old school with no behavioural issues already & I only finished there on Friday!
Few twingy pains just below my hip bone since getting home - probably because I've been on my feet all day...nice to put my feet up for 5 mins!
Is our list up-to-date? I've lost track of who's got their bfp's since I last did it???? Whoops Baby Brain setting in already - gesh

Good idea didi99 - we did ours yesterday at 6w6d & could see both hearts fluttering away - which was a huge relief I can tell you!

Hiya ladies... geez where is everyone today?
mum21 that's so cool - I cant wait for our first scan - how weird that you had to correct the sonographer though? I had a couple of experiences with nurses/Doctors at the beginning of this year where they were wrong which made me very wary & definitely made me question my trust in them Anyway... oh & look how high those beautiful hCG levels are mum21... I hope mine (& everyone else's) are increasing just as nicely as yours!
amme_eilyk it sounds like you & your DH got a sweet deal when you bought your home. My DP & I rent a place off a family member atm so it's pretty cheap $$ each week but I *think* we would be better off paying off a mortgage to be honest. I s'pose we should really do up a budget etc...
Or would it be better to stay where we are for another year, keep saving & maybe not go back to work straight away to spend more time with our first bubba?!? Sooo many decisions
ETA: ha.. as soon as I click "post," everyone else's posts appeared! We must be all on at the same time great minds think alike, eh?

Yes. We got it. Pretty cheap and through the welcome home loan scheme. Needs cosmetic work but nothing structural. And is in the shopping Mecca of feilding near palmy. I am waiting 4 my midwife to send out the blood test forms to find out how things are

Congrats wannabe on the twins. I had my twins at 41 and also had the same stresses about nuchal fold results, downs etc so if you want to check anything out re twins (there is a twins thread in first baby section) or age/twins/pregnancy (not that its really any different I think to other ages) let me know! Good luck everyone

Good afternoon girls
I did another HPT this morning (just to see if the line would be any darker) & it was! I was half expecting there to be nothing there, I dont know why, but I cant get over how surreal this whole experience is at the mo.
amme_eilyk I looked up the Welcome Home Loan after your comment - we're going to make an appointment with KiwiBank We did up a rough budget last night & worked a few things out. We've decided that if we found the perfect place to raise a family (for the right price) then we would have no problem working hard to support that. There's nothing that DP or I have fallen in love with for now though, so we'll just keep looking & saving in the meantime.
Congrats & welcome kellverona! We might be due date buddies I'm waiting on first scan though so things could still change. & I'm in the same boat as Wannabe... no morning sickness (as yet!) I bet I've just jinxed myself though
I talked to my mum last night about whether or not she waited to find out my sex at birth, her response was "We left it as a surprise - I wanted something exciting to think about when I was going through all that agony!!" ahah. Then DP said he wants to leave it as a surprise, too... so looks like I'm gunna be buying lots of creams & whites & other gender-neutral colours!
How's everyone else feeling today?

Welcome Kellverona, with my MS I normally put ginger slices (from fresh ginger root) in a cup of hot water, it kind of takes the edge off the nausea. Plus eating little bits often helps a bit too, have tryed to stock up on lots of fruit and healthy snacks as figured that could be not so great for excess weight gain. Aside from that I've pretty much just accepted it as part of daily life now get up, throw up, brush theeth, throw up etc, etc so probably not much help with any miracle cure.

Hey girls,
didi- the ginger slices in hot water are the best thing for MS!
I also like having gingernuts on my bedside table and then munching on one before I get out of bed, which is hard sometimes when I have a little person yelling "mummm...mummy mum MUM!!"
I've started getting waves of nausea in the mornings until about lunch time, but as didi said, the best thing is just to keep snacking on fruits/nuts/veges...lemon drinks are my saviour!
young mum to be - thats so exciting that you guys are leaving finding out the sex until the day too, we can buy creams and yellows together!
congrats to all the other BFP's also

Hiya everyone:)
I am a newbie, well I have been lurking in/out of the TTC thread for a few months now but have just discovered that I am pregnant 2 days ago and I am super excited! I have not confirmed the results with a professional as yet but I guess those pee on a stick things are pretty accurate hey?
This baby is definitely planned but I am still in shock and really have no idea where to go or what to do from here - How does one make the decision to use a midwife or Obstetrician???
Sorry for being so ignorant, but if anyone can elighten me on what next, this would be most appreciated!
Thanks ladies

Welcome Kris5 & CONGRATS doll - how exciting.
I'm a first timer too & asked the exact same question in the due in Dec thread!
I researched on the internet for local midwives & rang one - at that stage I'd only had a + pg blood test & one hCG levels blood test (which were very high) & because we'd been TTC for nearly 4 yrs I knew exactly when I ovulated / last period etc so was easy to work out my due date. My Fertility Specialist then sent me for another hCG (again high) so thought we might be having multiples. I rang my midwife who then said she couldn't monitor me as she only does 'easy pregnancies'.
Went for a scan on Monday (at 7 weeks) and yep we are definitely having twins so on recommendation from my Fert Spec now that I'm classed as a "high-risk-pregnancy" we are meeting with the Auckland Obstetric Centre this Monday.
The AOC have several obstetricians who we will get to meet thoughout our pregnancy just in case I go into labour & my obstetrician is not working that day. They monitor, do all the standard tests, (and special extra chromosomal tests if need be for a small fee) & deliver (either natural or C-section, or emergency delievery) & offer a midwife for 6 weeks after the birth. All this for one set fee (which is quite expensive I might add - but we feel it's worth it for piece of mind for our precious twins).
Others on here have found lovely midwives, some are going through their GP's & a free hospital obstetrician, others are going through a birthing centre or their hospitals birthing team. It's entirely up to you what feels right for you Kris.
Hope that helps?
