Hi girls.

After a completely wonderful elective caesarean on the 25th of May, I discovered that the recovery team didn't pay enough attention to my notes.

The whole point of this post is to let you guys know that if you have a latex allergy, for gods sake LET THEM KNOW! I had a special box of latex free goodies allocated to me, which followed me all over the hospital - problem was that even tho I had bright orange fluro stickers all over my notes - they neglected to make sure that my pressure dressing on my wound and the tape used to secure it was latex free. It wasnt and now I have a super massive rash which is like the worst rash you've ever seen -- hot, weepy and my god oh so itchy. Its also caused my wound to get infected,

Please make sure you ask about anything they're using on you - including the catheter - they have latex free ones of those as well. I'm really lucky that I didnt have a worse reaction and ended up really sick from it,.

I'm in the process of nicely wording a letter to the hospital to complain. I'm really hesitant about it as well because they were perfect in every other way, but they need to realise that they cant assume that every product is latex free - if it doesnt say on the packaging, then dont use it and find one that does!

Grr, I would be mad! I am itchy just reading your post!!!

I was given Amoxycillan in recovery for an OP in the UK even with the big red band on one arm and both ankles (not sure why my ankles???) and the sign attached to my bed...

Luckily it appears I had grown out of that particular allergy and didnt have a reaction, though it might have been fun if I hadnt...
