Topic: Fertility Acupuncturist - Wellington Posted: 03 September 2010 at 4:01pm |
Hi Ladies
would love to hear from anyone who knows of a good acupuncturist in Wellington who specialises in Fertility.
I've been through 3 IVF attempts with the last one resulting in a miscarriage at 6weeks so would be great to hear of success stories of anyone using acupuncture, before, during or after treatment or using it solely as treatment.
many thanks, I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi tanners, didn't want to read and run.
I'm not in Wellington but have had accupuncture before, during and after IVF treatment with our last transfer. As you can see from my ticker, I can't say it actually helped as it was a BFN for me that time, but I will say it helped me relax alot more.
I have heard others say that its helped them also, wishing you lots of luck, hope you get that well deserved and long awaited for BFP real soon!

Thanks for your reply scaredycat, maybe I will put a post in the ivf thread as I'm sure someone named a Wellington lady but I can't find it again!
Wishing you all the best for your next TER and hope it is the one that sticks! Take care and thanks again.

Hey Tanners,
This is going to be one of those 'I know someone...' stories, but a work colleague of my mums has just had her first baby after 4 rounds of ICSI,She is 36 also. BFN's on the first couple and I think she had a MC as well, the biggest difference on her 4th cycle was that she had been doing regular acu sessions with the same acupuncturist I am seeing, and she had acu just before ET as well.
Her success story is what made me get onto the same acupuncturist straight away to prepare for my first ICSI at the end of this year.
In terms of using it solely as treatment, my acupuncturist has told me of some recent patients of hers that have fallen pregnant on their own after doing acu, some had already been through IVF multiple times etc, she's also very confident that DH and I can fall pregnant on our own, they are great cases and stories to hear and keep the positivity up for DH and I, but we decided we will still go ahead with ICSI in December if we haven't managed to do it ourselves by then(we are dealing with MFI).
We aren't from Wellington so can't recommend anyone unfortunately but just wanted to share my 'I know someone' story lol.

Hi Tanners,
I have been to katrina Gascoine at the Clinic of Oriental Medicine in Mana 04-233 9800 when I was trying. She was recommended to me by a friend, whose friends had nicknamed her the baby maker due to all the sucess she had had!!
She was lovely, very popular tho, so you may want to book sooner than later. Definately worth the drive as I had heard lots of positive stories about her.
Good luck

I saw Janine at City Osteopaths for a couple of months, but was not ttc for a few weeks after that as due to see a gynae specialist, then got utd a bit after that.
I think Janine does the acu for FA too.
Otherwise I hear Katrina in Mana does come very highly recommended . . . also does herbs as well as straight acupuncture, but when I contacted her originally she was pretty booked up and there was quite a wait . . . good luck and hope you get a soon appointment

I had a bad experience with the acupuncturist at FAW, I booked them for treatment before and after ET but she never showed up, I had a full bladder and waited for around an hour and a half... it was cruel!
Anyway I've got an appt with Katrina in Mana, its not til 27th Oct which feel ages away but then I figure time round here goes pretty fast so the 6 weeks or so will come round in no time.
Thanks for your replies Nightingale and Spanky77.

Yeah, my acu guy has recommended against the acu at FAW. Apparently they are only allowed to do certain acu points instead of doing it for each patient individually. And it's now $200 apparently!!

Hi there - I see this is an old thread but thought I'd post in case anyone had any new info on good acupuncturists in Wellington? I am heading into my second round of IVF. Had heard Katrina in Mana was a miracle worker but tried to call a few months ago and number was disconnected? Have seen another Chinese lady and wasn't that impressed with her process. Just wondering if anyone can recommend anyone else in Wellington area? I'm also interested to hear if you have experience with Chinese herbs as prep for IVF. I've heard some great stories but the clinic recommends against them, so am a bit torn on that one. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Probably way too late but Janine Nana at City Osteopaths is really good. Katrina from mana retired last year. Her approach was to give you herbs etc until you started your ivf cycle then she'd stop them.
Anyway hope you've done your cycle and had success so didn't need this info 😊
