Topic: What do you do for exercise? Posted: 14 May 2011 at 5:00pm |
I was just wondering what everyone else does in the way of exercise? At the moment I am trying to walk as often as I can, we live rurally so I do need to drive the kids to and from school and kindy unfortunately! I have several exercises dvds (pilates and just got zumba today - thanks DH!). I would like to join a gym in the future when I have a wee bit more time to get there.
Would love to hear what you do to try and keep fit!

Walking/running - treadmill and streets
Doing weights - home gym and dumbbells
DVDS - zumba, biggest loser, hollywood trainer etc
Bootcamp - twice a week 45min sessions
And I use to do swimming too.

I walk...& I walk everywhere. When I walk to kindy it is 12+km a day. Once DS3 is at school (2 weeks) I have a plan set up, I will walk the kids to school & then walk to the park (6km) & do a couple of circuits with the last one walk to the top, & then I will walk home again.
I have "The Biggest Winner" DVD set with Jillian & I really enjoy the kick boxing one but will do a different one daily as there are 5 of them. Then I will walk to school & get the kids.
I am also going back to Zumba classes, I am not that coordinated but no one cares & you work up a real sweat going at the pace the instructors set...will have to go down the back till I relearn the moves again

I mainly use DVDs - Turbo Jam, Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred and a 10min 'Hot Body' one. I'd like to get Turbo Fire (like Turbo Jam but more intense apparently).
I also have Zumba, but felt unco and frustrated so haven't really done it again. I can see how it can be fun - I've just got to stick it out! I actually just bought a Zumba pass off TreatME - 10 classes for $10. I thought I'd try it in a class as I may enjoy it more ... it might have more of a party feel, lol
I have heaps of Windsor Pilates DVDs, but I don't enjoy them, so very rarely use them (should probably sell them!).
I also walk a little bit, nothing comapred to what Jazzy does though!

oh dear - i walk the MIL's dog twice a week and thats about it. some walking to kindy and school but they are close so probably doesnt amount to much. Such a shame cause i used to do aquarobics - did it for years even when i was full term with Eden - and have done a pump workout and kimax too.

Ooh another challenge between you 2 huh? Good on you both!
I do think the 30DS is worth it. A couple of tips, keep an eye on your form and try to protect your knees (I've never had issues with my knees but if I'm not careful I feel it after the workout) and the biggest one - keep going, even if you can't keep up with the 'easy' level, keep trying! It's hard to start with, but it's amazing how quickly you improve.

For those in the Lower Hutt region, there are mums and bubs exercise classes being held in the region. You can take baby and/or toddler with you. They are run throughout the week. Do a google search to find the best time/day for you.

I started with just walking as much as possible, We live rural too and I only had a 4 wheel pushchair so it was a bit hard without going into town to do it.
Then I got a really cheap 3 wheel pushchair on trade me and started walking down the farm race.
I have a wii fit as well so sometimes do that, or wii your shape. I have zumba dvd's that I do occasionally and have just started running (well kinda doing the couch to 5k) 3 times a week as well.
