Topic: Missed AF Posted: 29 May 2011 at 9:07pm |
I have always had regular AF (like clockwork) each month. This month it never arrived. I have done an HPT and also been to the Dr's and was referred to the gynae dept at waikato hosp. They have both done blood tests, but it still shows as a negative result.
I have had some pain on the left had side where my ovaries are, which they couldn't confirm what it was from. I am booked in for an ultra sound which can take 1-2 weeks to get an appt for.
Does anyone have any ideas of what may have caused this or experienced something similar? (Its freaked me out a little, and no one has been able to explain it to me.)
Should this be something that I talk to FA about?

Hey rachb, how many days/weeks are you late now? Very strange... have you started taking any new herbs/supplements recently? I've never had this (have a very regular AF apart from a few where it's been 3-4 days late but that's pretty normal).
I hope you get your scan soon and figure it out, hopefully it's good news

Hopefully the scan will show more. It's possible it could be ovarian cysts, as they can sometimes cause AF to be delayed.
Other option, is maybe you didn't OV when you usually do. It does happen sometimes, even if you have clockwork regular cycles.

Sunshine Wife, i'm now around 14 days late, the only new thing that i have started taking is elevit - I took this a few months back and it didn't affect anything.
FX i get the scan soon and find some answers - just wishing this hadn't happened so close to our IVF appt.
Thanks for your help ladies :)

Hey RachB, how did your scan go?
Any sign of that AF yet?

sorry haven't been on here for awhile - had been in contact with the hospital and apparantley i have a 6 week wait to get a scan, I went back to my dr and she sent a referral off so I could pay for one privately.
Had the scan today (gees they are expensive) and they said everything looks fine. have finally been able to see my left ovary which the Dr's hadn't been able to feel or see at my first FA appt. AF arrived yesterday so i'm not really sure exactly what happened last month.
The scan technician did say that maybe i passed a folicle? Will have to wait a couple of days and contact my Dr to get the actual results.
Hows everything going with you?

Wow Rach, how weird...? so they didn't see anything strange in the scan?
I guess our bodies do that sometimes....perhaps it was stress, anticipation of the upcoming IVF, that made you ovulate later?
I hope this cycle goes better for you! It's not fun when suddenly these unexplainable things start happening and you don't know what to think about it.

does anyone have anythoughts of why I may have missed my AF again this month? Should I be contacting the FA and letting them know?

What day are you now? Have your cycles been regular in the past? Are you taking any new meds...changed diet or anything?
I would let FA know and ask them whether any tests could be done etc?
