Help! Is it possible to re-waterproof fuzzibunz around where the leg elastic goes? They have recently started leaking here and I can't work out why.

In a short answer no.

Turn your nappies inside out, have a look at the PUL and see if the plastic has come away from the coloured fabric. If it has then the nappy has delaminted and past its use by date.

If it hasn't and the PUL looks fine then you probably need to do a strip wash/soak on your inserts and add more absorbancy to your nappies as your child is probably doing a big pee and the inserts cant handle it cause they are bunged up with other stuff. Rockin Green is the way to go, you can get sample packs from Tweedle and Mothers instinct. Soak overnight in a bucket then do a normal wash with no powder and they will be like new again.

I hope this helps, let us know how you get on

Thanks Wriggles, the PUL is still ok but will try your advice about stripping with rockin green - I normally just strip them with the fuzzibunz recommended way of baking soda and vinegar, is the RG way better?

are the inserts soaked? if so then maybe you just need to add some more absorbency.

I would stick to the vinegar and BS strip if that is what you have been doing.

Thanks Bizzy, yes she has become a heavy wetter recently since we have upped her water intake. We use two of the thick fuzzibunz inserts already, is there a better brand of insert that could take more? - she leaks after about an hour and as they used to be ok for 3 hours, i am fast running out of nappies and patience!

you could try a combination, maybe swap one of the inserts for a hemp or bamboo one. Peapods inserts are quite good to go with the fuzzi ones. and not too expensive either. Or prefolds make good inserts for pocket nappies.
