Seatoun mums....where do you go?!!!

We moved to Seatoun a month ago and now we're settled I'm looking for playgroups/mother and baby or toddler groups. Today we went to two playgroups and we were the only people to turn up!

Are there groups that I'm unaware of and missing all the action?! We have a 2 year old and a 4 month old.

I'm at a point where I'm wondering if I should start a coffee group/playgroup for surrounding mums in my own home at least then if I'm the only one to turn up I won't have travelled far!

I'm not familar with that side of town but I do know a friend of mine runs a playgroup in Miramar that might be good for you?

If you are signed up with Plunket, you can ask to join a PIN group. PIN stands for Plunket in the Neighbourhood. It's pretty much a coffee group, where you can connect with others in your area. Also, Plunket may know of other baby groups you could join as well, in your area.

Making a coffee group over your side of town is a good idea too.

I know you posted this months ago and are no doubt well and truly settled in the area, but I have just moved to Seatoun from overseas and am busy trying to find out what's available in the area. I have a 17 month old and another due in December. If you've come across any Seatoun playgroups, or are simply up for a coffee, then I'm definitely keen as I know no-one!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! A summer baby!

I didn't find anything in Seatoun! The Strathmore Plunket rooms have a Playgroup on Wed and Fri mornings (from 9:30). I found it is hit and miss for numbers. My daughter goes to Miramar Community Crèche for 3 mornings a week so would love to catch up for coffee then.

The local church hall has a group on a Wednesday afternoon from 1pm but it doesn't work around pick up times anymore so I never returned after my first attempt!

Where have you moved from? We're originally from the UK.

Also when you have your next baby you can go to the PIN groups at Miramar Plunket rooms. They do about 5 in the rooms first and then a coffee group is usually formed by other mums that want to keep in contact. That's the highlight of my week at the moment! I take my toddler with me too - we just meet at our houses now. Nice way to meet people. Defo recommend that for you.

Fantastic, thanks for all of that information! Yes I've been to a couple of the Strathmore Plunket groups and there has hardly been anyone there. Went to one at Miramar yesterday which had a lot more people. Now I'm sure there is a way to PM you my mobile on this forum so we can arrange a coffee catch-up, I just have no idea how to do it. Do you know? Or we can just arrange to meet at a cafe.
Oh and we've moved here from Sydney, via 7 months in Singapore, so still acclimatising!
