Hi all, just wondering if anyone here is from Hawkes Bay and can tell me what their experiences with Fertility Associates was like? I know that someone comes up from Wellington a few times a month, and I know that we'll need some treatment down in Wellington. The Dr has warned us that it's quite a commitment and we are currently waiting for our first appointment. Thanks :)

We saw FA in wanganui as they'd just started having clinics there and was quicker to get an appt than palmy. The gynaecologist came up from Wellington and held a clinic on certain days. We got all our physical examinations etc there. Had to go to Wellington for first counselling (we're using a donor but similar for ivf) then second counselling they did via phone. Next week we're back to Wellington to see gynaecologist again to get our plan but only because we're picking our donor that day too. The it's back there for iui. All other tests we got done at our local gp - bloods etc.
I'd imagine it would operate the same in the bay depending on what you need help with. Their website is pretty good but you've probably already found that!
As far as appts go we went private to start with so I just emailed them to ask and had one for a couple weeks later. And by the time our public appt (5 mths of waiting later) came up we'd had tests and were already on the donor list with one counselling session already ticked off.
Not sure if any of that was helpful at all! All the best .

We are in CHB

That is helpful, thanks! Hopefully I hear from them any day now and find out how soon we can get an appointment, and all my questions will be answered!

When you go down for IUI, how does that work? You'll get bloods done locally and then you'll have to be in Wellington on short notice? How much notice?! I know, I'm thinking far too ahead of myself!!

We'll know for sure next week but for bloods iui bloods they have to be done at a place that does results same day. We live in a small town and our gp office doesn't do that. Then I think we'll know the night before that we need to be in Wellington. My friend did ivf with them and for retrieval she had night before warning but with putting embryos back it was that morning and get your butt here ASAP kind of thing.
I've already warned my boss that we're having treatment so he's aware - I'm a teacher so just upping sticks at a moments notice isn't easy nor is getting a blood test an hour away and trying to make it be back for school starting lol.

We are dealing with FA Hawkes Bay, have been up to Wellington once for sperm retrieval but had plenty of notice. They are actually all so lovely and make an awkward experience seem really normal! good luck with your treatment!
