Nah no other details apart from that. Yeah I wonder if TVNZ gave them extra money or maybe they brought the reserve down for them.

They paid the reserve price of 295,000 and it was Mitre 10 that came thru with the extra 25K for them. Well done to both teams.

Ah excellent, I thought some company would come to the party and help them out. That's wonderful.

It seems like that was quite a lot of competitiveness going on between the 2 families (more uncomfortable than other years from how it appeared on TV) so I hope they can forget about that and enjoy being neighbours now.

Yeah both teams have got their houses every year. I reckon people would stop watching if it didn't happen like that as it would seem sooooo unfair.

i was interested in what would've happened if the blue team had lost because they seriously seemed to be considering walking away - talking about how the mortgage payments were too large for them to afford and still have some life!

I agree BS - I dont think that the real estate market in NZ really allows for a show like this anymore, unless more "corporate sponsorship" is provided, but then that almost seems unfair!

I think that there should be a lot more emphasis on helping people from lower-socio economic groups get into their first homes, and it doesnt always have to be about providing a 'dream home'. Lots of people just want / need a clean, dry and safe place to raise their kids. Wouldnt it be great it a program like this paired up with something like http://www.habitatnz.co.nz/ and helped multiple families instead of just 1or 2!

Totally, Habitat does such a good job of getting families into their own homes and it's great because the people then help other families build their homes!
