It is possible to food-colour coconut, put them all together in a jar so you can shake it around. Makes great grass when mixed with green.

So its DHs birthday lunch tomorrow, and this is my first ever attempt at a decorated birthday cake....I hope he likes it.

(He is a kite flier....and his favourite kite is red!!)

PS - thanks Janine for all your help!! Couldnt have done it without your advice!

Isla's butterfly cake was sooo easy! I just hired a heart shaped tin from a party hire shop for $6, made 2 heart shaped cakes,..then 3 muffins with the same cake misture for the middle,...there is a photo above on this page!

I just chopped the 'risen' part of the cakes off,..and turned them face down on the board so that the smooth bottom side was now the top to ice.

You could use butter icing, and decorate with lollies!

man im hungry......

You guys are all so talented, lets see for Miss C's first birthday she just had an icecream cake , and i have .Never.Made.her cake.......i know.....(just pausing so you guys can let that sink in ) ....

BUT ! now i am inspired , so even though im realllly tempted to tell-i mean ask one of you to do it, i shall give it a go myself.

But what should i do?shes turning 6 , she likes princesses, and fairies , um her favourite colour is purple.....any ideas/suggestions?
