Topic: 2nd miscarriage Posted: 05 July 2007 at 10:21pm |
I haven't talked much (if at all) about this but I've had 2 early miscarriages since having my daughter. The first I was about 3.5 weeks and the 2nd = 5.5 weeks. The first one was so quick, found out I was pregnant and then 2 days later started spotting. This time (only happened a month ago) I had lots of nausea, tiredness etc.. heaps of symptoms. Went to the doctor, got used to the idea of having another baby, then another miscarriage
I'm wondering if anyone here has gone through a similar thing, having one healthy child and then miscarried more than once, then gone on to have another healthy child? I am worried about what will happen next time, going through a m/c takes a huge strain on me physically and emotionally, I don't think I could handle it again.
TIA.

Awww I'm so sorry to hear that Kat, I hadn't known about either. I don't know the answer to your question, I had one m/c between #2 and #3 but not two. Big hugs!

Thanks Teresa. The doctor can't do any tests until (hopefully not) a 3rd m/c occurs.

My sister had her first child then years later tried to have another. She miscarried about 3 times then got pregnant had baby, tried again a couple of years later and 2 more miscarriages and were booked into see specialist and got to the first appt only to discover she was pregnant again and carried that baby sucessfully too and she has had another since then. So yeah as horrible as the journey can be it is possible to have another baby

Hugs Kat, I am sorry you have had to go thru this.
I've had two miscarriages, one before Maya and one before the gremlins. I remember reading somewhere after my second m/c that women who have had 2 m/c have the same chance statistically of having an ongoing pregnancy as a woman who has never m/c.
I've met a lovely woman thru another forum ( www.thelostones.co.nz) who had 14 m/c and a stillbirth after having her first child, but has since gone on two have two beautiful healthy boys.
Best of luck on your journey

Yep, sad huh? She is such an inspiration to me, I just don't know how you get hurt that many times and still get up and keep going, I'm not sure I could do it.

Hey Kat, i am in the same position as you.
i had a miscarriage at 7wks last october and another one at 4 wks 2 months ago, we are still currently trying as i firmly believe that we will have another healthy baby.
if you are wondering whether you should try again, then my suggestion would be to maybe wait a little bit until you have come to terms with these miscarriages, and when you are feeling emotional better then start ttcing again.
thinking about you babe
((((hugs())))

I've just noticed this thread, and thought this might help:
There's a 10 year gap between me and my sister. It wasn't meant to be so big, and it wasn't for lack of trying! My mum had 2 miscarriages (that I know of) before the successful pregnancy with K, one when I was 4 and one when I was 8. I think she had another one when I was 9, probably a couple of months before conceiving K but I'm working off my memories, without confirmation.

Yip for so many of us we spend the mjority of our lives using some form of contraception to stop from getting pregnant, then the time you do try and start/continue a family it becomes an emotional rollercoaster.
I too have had 2 miscariages. Both after my daughter when trying for a second. The 1st was at 5 weeks and the second the, (very next month) at 4 weeks just after (I found out). And yeh it was very hard to cope with.
People seemed to think that it made it easier given my pregancy wasnt that far along, and dont get me wrong that would have been alot harder to deal my heart goes out to thoes people that have;
but to my husband and I it was still our little baby that we had been trying for. We were over the moon. When all of a sudden it was gone. So my thoughts are with you kat. Be strong. As hard as that can be
I am just so blessed to have had a beautiful boy at the end of our heartache. He is now 3 months.
I just had to remind myself while we were going through this that I did have 1 beautiful baby and thats more than some are blessed with.
So chin up chicken stay positive and just enjoy practising.!!!:p

Hey meow, since my mc I have realised that probably over half the people I have spoken to have had one or more mc, either before their first or more often between pregnancys.
This does not make it easier for any of us to take, but at playgroup there were 3 woman the other day who had both had 2 mc between the first and second babies , so it does give us hope, good luck with ttc
