They can do wonders with IUI these days. Oh and good on you for taking the plunge - although it seems to me you're not often backwards in going forwards

And I see your nappy pile Teresa and raise you 2 4 mth olds and a 4 year old in night naps

Geez Emma ...what does it take to convince you people I am actually a shy little lamb ...?

It's like trying to convince DH that I am suffering insurmountable trauma and therefore need a new handbag to help ease my terrible pain ...

IUI is basically artificial insemination James, from what I can make out. There are 2 options from what I can tell - one where they put you on drugs to force ovulation, and to force the release of a couple to 3 eggs, and the other where they let ovulation happen naturally. They monitor you with blood tests and scans and things, and when you ovulate they use a really fine cathetar, with a 'prepared' semen sample (it reminds me of an Alison Holst ...'and here's one I prepared earlier!') and they inject it up into your uterus so the 'boys' don't have t swim as far, and it gives a much greater chance of conception. I guess by 'preparing' the sample, they possible remove the crap swimmers, so that the ones that are going in are first rate.

BUT, I'll be able to fill you in completely once I've been to my appointment, and have a clue what I'm talking about

I have a 'friend' who got pregnant that way straight away. She takes great pride in telling people she got pregnant in a threesome with a turkey baster Good luck.

Gee Ginger you're not *still* on about that handbag are you? I thought you'd bought it already, and we'd made a great plan about how to fit the ladle in it?

And you're pretty much spot on with the IUI. They 'wash' the sperm first and weed out the crook ones so you get an injection of super-swimmers.

Well, I *would* Emma, but it hasn't been released into store yet! I'm on the waiting list

Still, I don't mind that ...it means I can pester DH and he gets used to the idea of another handbag before it arrives

Oooo ...I *like* that my2angels Hehe ...and it could definitely go on my list of things I haven't done before too ...

As ridiculous an idea as it is at this stage, I'm still holding out to become a cliche! I'd love to 'Do a Paws' (Fall pg waiting for my specialist appointment to roll around!)

I bet! But either way, at least it doesn't feel so open-ended time wise.

(And Emma, you win on the nappies. I have Miss 3 in night nappies too and the others both full-time, but... Briona does a whole heap less mess than a 4mo. In saying that though, Krystiana has not yet figured how to keep all she does within the confines of a nappy )

I keep popping in here just to see what you're up to and I saw the "Now we wait" and I thought "ooohhhh the TTW". But in a way this wait is better as it has a definite outcome

It must be really common to fall PG whilst waiting to see a Spec, same thing happend with us! Tests were booked for Dec, I got PG in late Oct

All the best Ginger

I personally reckon its coz the whole mindset is oh well if we dont get pregnant we have the specialist appt on this date and it alleviates stress which in fact is the best form of contraception.

Stupid but probably true

I've managed to get some time to me and catch up.

Things sound like they are moving in the right track for you now Ginger. heres hoping something is done for you at that appointment.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
