Our doctor saw Joy's skin rash today for the second time. She says it is exema and probably related to allergies.
But that we can't test Joy until she is old enough....
How old do babies have to be? What about the food in the meantime? I don't like the idea that I am feeding Joy something that is making her skin bad.

Austin Paul 12.47pm 18/04/10 10lb 8oz

we went to paed and he skin tested him at 10 weeks...though the results arent reliable necessarily till 1 it still gives a good idea....he told us to avoid all food except fruit meat and vege till 1.. I'm surprised they didnt refer you if they think it's allergies:( i would make an appointment with a paed..

Yep that is right about the allergy testing. It can be done but isnt always accurate until after a year old.
Be careful introducing new foods, do one new food at a time, and nothing else new for a week or two, so that its easier to see what makes it worse.
Wheat, dairy are common allergens that cause excema. If he is bf u could try a dairy free diet and not giving her any dairy herself, but if she is on dairy formula that will be harder to do. Look at when it started etc,..like was she still fully bf, or was it when u started her on formula etc.
Avoid bananas as they can make other allegys worse, most other fruit and vege are fine. At that age is should be pretty easy to cut out other dairy and wheat or one or the other as a trial.

I don't think it is her formula as she has been on it for a while.
That must be why the doc is holding off on the tests (accuracy).
No more banana's! We have only just introduced them anyway so that won't be hard. I don't think she likes them anyway.

She was BF, but been on formula since 6/7 weeks old. Until 3.5 months she was mostly BF with formula top ups. Since 3.5 months fully formula fed.

She eats fruit/veg that I make at home. She also has the Watties range food.

So shes been fully on formula for 4 months with no reaction/rash til now? If thast the case, then I think thats a real long time to be on it with no reaction, to then have it now. Check the baby food tins. Once you get into the range for older babies a lot of the tins have egg in them, and or milk or yogurt. It may be something in one of them. Could also be enviromental too.

Yep that's right Kellz. She's only had the rash for about 4 weeks. I would be really surprised if it was the formula. Going to check the label now

Have you changed your washing powder or what you are using to wash Joy?

Another thing to watch is using natural fibres for clothing etc.
