I think my boy has developed an aversion to his bottles, he's got bad reflux and probably cows milk intolerance. So feeding has been awful for him up until now that he's on neocate. A lot more of the time he will take the bottle but from time to time he flat out refuses and screams even though I know he's very hungry.

He loves to drink water out of a little cup and can take it very well. He's only 4 months but I was wondering if maybe I should try giving him his neocate in something like a sippy cup?

Or if I change bottles would that help?

Just really tired of trying to force feed him. Once I can get him to, he realises it doesn't hurt and hes ok but sometimes it can take a long time to get to that point

It could be worth your while changing to a sippy cup.

(I am copying and pasting this as I have typed this up before for someone else) Our first boy was reflux and our second boy has food allergies and FLAT OUT REFUSED BOTTLES all the time.

*On days where he wouldn't have much, we would top up with water of with water/juice from puree apple or pear, we always froze the water from pureeing fruit so he had HEAPS of iceblocks with a mesh bag.

Feeding times become such a horrible time for them, you need to turn it into a positive. Put on some nice music, hold baby in against your chest with a book infront of you. Our bubs always drank way more while I was reading a nice story.

You can help bubs like a bottle by putting an empty bottle in the cot for them to play with, and playing games with a bottle of water. Like flicking the teat with your finger to make a sound, then their finger on the teat, then flick the teat on their lips to make the sound.

Feed small amounts often rather then large amounts. (This was HUGE for me and my first born reflux bubs)

THE OTHER THING is, if baby is teething, it can REALLY put them off their bottles. You could try a frozen Neocate/apple puree mix as it soothes gums, then you know she's getting something in. Also, is anyone in the family really good at getting her to take a bottle?

My boy wouldn't drink his milk if it was a degree to cold or hot, it had to be PERFECT temperature as well!

LittleN Did you see my post about using a little bit less each bottle?
