ARGH am at my wits end...

Jake like to give teddy "special cuddles" in the morning, which involves him AVERT YOUR EYES IF SENSITIVE humping teddy on the floor

I've tried really hard not to make a big deal about it, cos I know its natural etc, and have told him that if he wants to do that he needs to do it in his room in private. He calls it "the diddle game" cos it makes his diddle feel "tickly"
It used to be just in the morning, however hes ramped it up in the past few weeks and its now all the bloody time, any time, anywhere and its really starting to brass me off. I have repeatedly asked him to do it in his room, and to not even do it, tried stickers charts etc but no avail.

He' not a hands down pants kid, its just poor teddy getting a dealing to. Ive tried even to tell him teddy dosen't lik eit, etc, but....

Please tell me its just a phase!!! WWYD?

No real ideas from experience, sorry, but could you try taking the teddy away??? Is it just with that one specific toy?

Ah, all the things I have to look forward to...

I know how frustrated you must be, but damn that is some funny stuff. if you don't have a book that you write this stuff in for his 21st - get one. cause that is a classic story that you simply MUST bring out when he brings girls home.

anyhoo - can teddy stay in his room - (or be made to stay in his room - do you have a staple gun?)

geez, I'm no help at all. sorry Annie

hmm my boys have never humped anything... toby plays with his a lot, hes always pulling it or squashing it or ... all sorts. not generally in public tho, usually when hes naked or getting dressed. gabriel plays with his in private now but as a small kid wasnt so discreet. I used to just say we do that in the bedroom, thank you!

you dont think that maybe hes seen or heard something inappropriate and is modelling that?

Ok, I just sat down with DP and explained the issue - he didn't laugh at all. In fact he suggested that because it's so much warmer, it may be itchy (and we all know that once a man starts scratching it feels good so they keep doing it). So make sure his diddle is extra clean (especially around foreskin area), and maybe a play in the pool or hose on a hot day?

From my perspective, I had a cousin who went through an "anytime, anywhere" phase at about 4 (I'm a lot older) and it was dealt with by reminding him that it was an "alone time" thing to do, and ignoring it after one reminder. He outgrew it.

OMG the things we have to look forward to!

Ditto what Liz said about a diary... that is a 21st story!

My cousin's little boy used to do this too. I'm not sure what they did to stop it - I saw it happen quite a few times at our family bach last summer, but I was too embarrassed to talk to them about it.

I have no idea what I'd do if Josh started this. He used to be constantly playing with it, especially after bath time, but he's pretty much stopped since toilet training. Its a hard one, cos you don't want him to feel ashamed of natural stuff, but then you don't want it to happen outside of home either. Its not the wrong thing to be doing, nor is it really the right thing!!

Good luck    Let us know how you get on.

Lol I do need a book, ha ha.

Biz, i don't think he's seen or heard anything he shouldn't have, but you can never be sure, esp after what had been going on here while demon spawn was living here...

Can't take teddy off him, or "time out" teddy, cos its his special teddy (obviously...) and he goes everywhere...

Thgat said he's only been at it once today, this mornig in the lounge before I got up, hubby got up for a drink and saw him... Jakey told me just before that he had been a good boy and only played the "diddle game" in his room so no one could see....

Good idea Flutterby, thank your DH, I will check on that...

*sigh* Will keep you posted...

I would sit him down and explain to him that you understand it feels good when he does it and that it is perfectly fine. But that those sort of things dont get done in public ect.

And from now on if you see him do that then teddy will have to stay in the bedroom and wont be able to come out. However if he feels he wants to do it he is more than welcome to take teddy and go do it in his bedroom.

You can even tell him more about appropriate behaviour and that no one else should touch that area ect.

That way he knows this is normal but that it shouldnt be done in public but if he continues to do it in public that you will have to remove teddy and put teddy in the bedroom.

Oh boy. The things I will have to deal with in future.
