How would I know if my son had a problem with wheat or gluten or something like that?

He is dairy intolerant so I have been quite careful with his diet. But recently I have introduced toast and he has also eaten a jar of baby food with pasta in it.

For about the last 2-3 weeks he has had very loose bowel movements a few times a day. We thought it was teething as he has been cutting two teeth at once the whole time. But the poo problem seems to be going on a long time... we took him to the doctor who wasn't sure and suggested we take stool samples to be tested to see if he had a bug. He's also been quite irritable lately which he just put down to teething too.

I haven't done that as in the last 2 days he seems to be back to normal. However I also noticed that over the last few days I haven't given him any toast or anything with wheat/gluten in it. It could be a total coincidence but it made me wonder what I should do to find out? And what the signs are?

Thanks

I forgot to say when he ate the jar of baby food with pasta (spaghetti), about halfway through it he puked it all back up. It was a real puke rather than a spill.

He had that flavour one other time in the past and didn't spew but it didn't seem to agree with him and he didn't like to eat it.

My boy can't have wheat and his appears as bowel intolerance and a terrible face rash.

Other signs I do believe is a lot of farting. Also some kids get really blocked up & constipated. I guess the only way is to do a food trial.

Just reading my book, irritability could be a sign. Coeliacs in the majority will experience diarrhoea & abdominal complaints other symptoms are easy bruising of skin, mouth ulcers, skin rashes altered mental alertness poor weight gain.

I find if they don't like to eat it then that tends to be them knowing that it's not going to be good for them. I still do try and offer the 10 times that plunket recommends
