It's about the same as the Phil & Tedd Tott XT. At 18kg you have to take the harness out and use it with the adult belt.

Luana I would have looked into putting him in a booster with a harness after his 2nd birthday. He weighs more than my 3yo (who is in a booster)! What's his car manner like, does he try to get out or is he good about car seats?

If she passes the "5-Step Test" then she doesn't need one, if if she doesn't pass the test then she does :)

The 5-Step Test

1. Does the child sit all the way back against the auto seat?

2. Do the childs knees bend comfortably at the edge of the auto seat?

3. Does the belt cross the shoulder between the neck and arm?

4. Is the lap belt as low as possible, touching the thighs?

5. Can the child stay seated like this for the whole trip?

i was told gabriel should be in a booster - cause his ears are higher than the top of his seat - and was worried too so they suggested a booster and buy a 5 point harness that can be attached to the bolt for the car seats. I just know that gabriel is not ready for a normal seatbelt, hes a very cheeky monkey in his carseat already...
