Best eczema cream

I didn't like new HealthE fatty cream, didn't work on my children, so we switched to Non-Ionic cream.

Ditto..I love the 'C' cream as I call it. It's free on prescription and you get a huge tub. I have filled up lots of tiny tubs and carry them around in all my bags.

I also wash my daughter with emulsifying cream, as I found the aqueous cream didn't help at all.

Like Blondy said, finding the cause helped too and food allergies were also our main culprit

Thanks for your comments. My baby is now 7 months. The eczema initially arrived at 17 days old. Have tried pinetarsal which she hates! Might try the cetomacrogol cream you suggest. Thanks! I've tried eliminating a number of things from my breastmilk with no obvious effects on her. However i recently tried her on formula for the first time (cows milk) and she had an allergic reaction with her skin going red and blotchy (not eczema), so that must be one thing she's allergic to. Drs keep saying hopefully she'll grow out of it.

The same thinh happened with my daughter when I weaned her at 7 mths. She also had an upset tummy and diarrhoea. Got her allergy tested and found out about all her food allergies, including a milk protein allergy. Switched her to Neocate formula and noticed an improvement straight away, although the eczema has taken a long time to get on top of.

Neocate (which my DD is on also) can only be prescribed through a specialist, and your specialist has to apply for government funding for the formula (otherwise it's about $100 a tin ). Personally, if I had been battling with eczema for about 7 months I would ask the GP for a referral to a specialist for allergy testing. IMO, if the eczema interferes with your and your baby's daily life, then that is serious enough to warrant a referral.

I also would be reluctant to try soy based formula, due to the issues with estrogen in soy - but JMO

when i was little the only cream that worked was hydrocortisone..and im talking 6 months old being lathered in 0.5% cortisone. most doctors refused to try it based on my age but it was a godsend.
i was coated from scalp to toes. my eyelids would split, my lips/side of mouth would crack when i opened to feed/cry, my ear lobes split and up the top of my ear would weep yellow puss. my whole body was coated and even my little baby bits were coated in excema and "nappy rash" and nothing worked until mum tried the cortisone.

i was also put onto soy formula at 6weeks as i was highly allergic to breast milk. if vomited, chronic sh*ts and the excema. i dropped from 9lb to 5lb in those 6 weeks.

skin prick tests showed dairy, citrus and horse allergies (yet i was fine with horse but not boxer dogs)
however now (age 20) im just allergic to dairy, tomatoes, grass and still the boxer dogs.

hope you get on track soon and can get it under control
