someone has pointed out that we cant post new topics in the due/born in threads... is there a reason they are locked?

The reason we locked the Due/Born in threads is so that they stay what they were intended for and that general baby-related discussion happens in the relevant areas of the forums eg. First Baby, Toddler etc.

I'll start a Due In July '09 thread now, if anyone has another Due/Born in thread they want added, feel free to PM me

It would defeat the purpose of having the separate section for the Born In/Due In threads.
