I'm trying out how to approach Andrew's preschool about this. Andrew has come home with some very unusual bruises on his arms and legs (the ones that look like pinching has happened). I asked him last night if someone had done it and he said that "the big kids" did it but didn't mention any names. Tonight he has a blister on his shoulder and a big bruise on his arm. I asked him again who did it and he gave me the names of a couple of 4 year olds at his preschool. I know these children (1 of them happens to be the son of one of the teachers at the nursery) and I know that they are the types of children to so this.

He tells me he tells the teachers but I know that if anything like this was going on they would tell us when we picked him up as we have to sign the accident register (for anyhting that happens we have to sign it).

In a way I think that they pick on Andrew as he is a big boy (tall more than anything - other Palmy ladies will know as they have seen him) and they feel threatened by him maybe.

So any ideas?

Poor Andrew! Definatley speak to the teachers and let them know what is happening (even show them the bruises so they know how severe it is). Possibly speak to Andrew with the teacher so that he knows he can go to them and let them know the 'big boys' are being mean to him (hitting, pinching).

As for one of them being a techers son... that sux! Hope you cna get things sorted out soon.

Hmmm, thats a tough one! Poor Andrew!
We had a similar situation with DSD a few years ago, but that was at school rather than preschool. She came home with legs covered in bruises where some older boy had kicked her and when I went to the school to complain about it I was pretty much told that she could be "cheeky" and probably was winding them up Not happy! But then we had no end of problems with that school...
I'd say talk to the teachers, maybe first on your own to give them a heads up, and then with Andrew so he knows he's got a 'safe' person to tell if he gets bullied again. And maybe make it one of the other teachers you approach rather than the one who's son might be involved coz that could be a bit tricky.
Best of luck, let us know how you get on!

I went into preschool today and spoke with the head teacher (we had other stuff to sort out so it was good timing in a way) and Andrew was with me. The HT knew about the boys and wasn't surprised that they were doing it. She is making the other teachers aware and trying to keep them away from Andrew. The HT said they the 2 boys know when they can try and do it (so it's not the first time they have done it) and so they are getting extra watched.

It is true about why they pick on him, Andrew isn't little (he is taller than one of the boys) and they find him a threat. Andrew knows not to put up with it and to go straight to a teacher (hopefully he does).

Fingers crossed there's no more bullying for poor Andrew.
