I joined WW when Quinn was about three months... (please note the PAST tense!). I should have normally been allowed about 20 points, but while breatsfeeding was allowed 36!! This is huge!! I basically had to up what I was eating to get anywhere near 36 points!!
And I have no tips re losing weight, I am still porky after having Quinn, I have not been on the scales since having him but I think I lost about 10 kg of baby weight (5 of that was the actualy baby) and then have remained the same since! Exercise is the key, if you eat reasonably then exercise is the best way tolose it!! But I am so slack and lazy that I just cannot be bothered!! ARGH! Damn his lack of motivation!! Can really complain tho cause I know I should do it but don't so I should quit whining!!
The bestest thing about WW is the menus,I have always struggled in what tohave for diner, it was so nice to just check the menu and go without thinking!!

I am quite motivated with excercise now, I go to the gym 5 times a week (3x cardio and 2x cardio+weights) and I go to yoga once or twice a week. But it took me 11 mths after I had Maya to even set foot back in the gym.

But Lena it is important to eat all your Points because if you don't your metabolism slows down and you get stuck on a plateau. I was allowed 24 when I first started, and was only eating 18-20 and I found it really hard to shift the weight, but once I started eating all my points it moved a lot faster.

You guys sound like WW worked for you really well. I found it hard because I didn't learn to eat healthy, just what fitted into my points. I did exercise every day (1hr and a half walk)while my son was at pre school, but once I went back to work, couldn't keep up the exercise and socilised a bit too much and it all slowly came back on. This time I have done Sure Slim and yes it cost a little more, but if you equaled it to what you pay for weekly weigh ins at WW, it is not that much dearer. I have learnt I have a sugar addiction and how much it affects my eating habits. As if I have sugar now (that time of the month), I feel really tired and have a headache. It also makes me more hungry. I have also learnt that bread makes you bloat, when I was being naughty and had too much I looked like I was pregnant again. I am breast feeding also, Sure Slim have a programme for that. I find I don't stick to it religiously and that is why it is taking so long to lose it. But I feel that it took 3 kids and 14 yrs to put it on, I can take a little while to take it off. Plus when Tara is sick she seems to feed more off me than on solids. It is great when you find the programme that works for you.
I have also discovered this vibration plate. There are a few places that have set up in Tauranga. For 15min you do certain poses that tighten muscles while on this machine and depending on the intensity of the vibration it gives that muscle a workout. They reckon in 15min on this machine is like doing and hour at the gym. I go 2x a week and I am already seeing some toning in my tummy muscles. Which after having 3 c sections, I never thought I would see again, lol.

I really want to get more into exercise but less for my health and more to encourage Jake to be active. He's such a busy little boy I really think he needs to be involved in some kind of sport even now just to burn up that extra energy. But I can hardly moan at him for staying on the computer all day and not getting ourside when I do the same thing!!! (this of course is in the future...although he does like to "type")

There was a topic in the Toddler section called "the oldest wants a turn" where we let our kids have a type... I'll see if I can find it and bump it for you, Liz.

Well I am feeling quite organised today
I have done up a tracking sheet of what I am eating during the day and how many points I'm having etc - Found that I eat quite a bit of "Zero" points food... Hence why I can't get to eat all my points!!
So I now organise Dinner before I have breakfast (so I know how many points I will be having) - and then "budget" my points for brekkie , lunch and snacks.
Thanks for the advice Emma, have been on WW for about 3 weeks now and haven't gone anywhere (weight wise)... so hopefully will be able to budge a little more while eating my "20 points"
Keep up the good work everyone!!

Good luck Lena! Do you go to meetings? I'm a cheapskate - bought the books online and just follow the programme myself hehe.
Lizzle, Maya is the same - energy to burn and never sits still lol. This term I've put her in swimming lessons and dancing to try and get her into some 'organised' excercise, and she also walks pushing her doll in the dolls pram when we go walking so she is getting exercise then too(although I don't know how Lewis would feel about Jake pushing a pram )
I do worry about Maya because she has two fat parents, but I figure if I teach her healthy habits she should be okay right? Plus Willie wasnt overweight as a child (I was) he just got that way as a lazy adult.

Nah Dad does (hes got money - I dont!!) and he's brought me the points calculator, books etc and if he picks up anything new he just lets me know!!
Pretty good having him doing it as well - we drive into town (dont like country roads!) - and walk for an hour or so - good for father daughter bonding too.
I had 20 1/2 points today
My mum and dad are both overweight (mum moreso then dad) and my sis is quite large too... I was the skinny princess until I had Arna... Now I'm heading down the path of the rest of my family... so I am doing something while I can!! children learn not what they are told but what they see (something like that!)
Babbling is over!

yeah, my family has a huge history of heart probs - dad has to have bypass surgery next year, uncle had two attacks, other uncle had heart transplant, grandma died of heart attack, so i really need to get into exercising to stop genetics! But I agree Lena, kids learn by what they see, so a good role model I shall be....as soon as I get back to NZ

My family don't have much of a history of heart problems (my Dad's side seem to live to 80+ but Mum's side has a strong cancer history) but on Willie's side they do - his brother dropped dead very suddenly of a massive heart attack at 56 a few weeks ago, and his father had diabetes and died of a heart attack related to that. Willie has high blood pressure, high cholestorol, prediabetes blah blah blah. I think it's a diet and excercise thing for him, as well as genetics, but he has taken the first step by seeing the doc and getting on medication for the BP and cholesterol.
I'm getting a cross trainer for xmas, so will hopefully be able to get him on that so he can get a bit of weight off.
So I'm really hoping that by setting a good exercise and healthy eating pattern for Maya she can ditch the dodgy genetics and maintain a healthy weight.

Haha Liz - Procrastination setting in?
Emma - Sorry to hear about Willies brother - I think the key for our kids as we have all said is to bring them up with exercise (lots of play and sports!) and healthy eating!!
I'm talking my dad into getting me a treadmill / exercycle - alot easier to do it at home then driving half an hour to walk or bike on the country roads at night when David gets home!

Isn't it 'Push Play' day soon????
I'm going to make an effort to get Han out and active (even if it is just crawling around on the grass, we don't do running yet!)

It is so hard being a role model isn't it!? I worry about what Joey will pick up from us as my favourite thing is eating and watching Shortland Street I have always been fat but try and watch what I eat. Even when I was teaching and ate lunch in front of/with my class I tried to only eat healthily as it sucks looking like a hypocrite!

It is funny that you all mention trying to pass on good habits, this is something that has been on my mind a lot lately!! I am the slackest of all slackers but Ifind Quinn is a fab reason toget out and do something! He too is an active wee kidlet which is great!
There is a severe risk of high blood pressure on both sides of my family so I really need to be aware of that! Both my parents have been on meds for it since early 20s. Andys family have got the good genes tho, all the women in his family live past 100 (looks like I am going to have to put up with the MIL for years!!)

LOL Lena, I think Willie just comes from a family of typical Maori men - too much boilup not enough exercise hehe.
I don't think Maya's daycare is doing anything for Push Play day. Will have to ask.
