boredom? lol. that's a good question, first of all - don't take to eating when you are bored.. i learnt the hard way about that one, and i didn't even have kids then.

you could try going to mum's groups, take James to the park - go down the slide on swings etc with him, or just take a picnic rug and toys and find a nice shady place for him to play, you can read a book, or play with him, whatever - sometimes just a change of scene helps.   find out what's on where you are.. we used to take paris to thing that really she was too little for, but she loved them, we took her to a big kite fair once, she sat still for ages just watching all the kites. we also take our girls swimming.. ayja loves it!

you can learn to bake, paint pictures for james walls, make mobiles, all that sorta thing. I'm quite crafty when i get time - i spose just finding what you always liked before, and adapting it to include baby is the key thing. good luck

Don't worry, it sometimes takes a few months for them to really get into solids, 6 months is still early :)

You can even look at studying. Massey does some interresting courses that you can do at home, part-time, full time whatever. It keeps me sane!!

I never had a boredom problem, but that's because I tend to waaaaay overcommit myself and I ended up stressed out.

But Playcentre can be an awesome way of meeting other Mum's with kids a similar age, and they usually have some social things in the evenings, as well as parent training and things. We started when Maya was 11 months, and stayed till she was 2 1/2.

It didn't work out for us in the end as my work commitments got in the way, and I had some pretty major personality clashes, but I have kept in touch with a few of the Mum's, and Maya goes to their kids birthday parties, and the girls do ballet classes together and have play dates etc. so I got what I wanted out of it.

Check out their site if you're interested.www.playcentre.org.nz
