Topic: PGD /Balanced translocation Posted: 30 May 2013 at 11:01am |
Hi All,
I am really keen to connect with any women who have a balanced translocation and/or have been through PGD...
Is there anyone out there?

Hello. Yes i have been looking jnto this. Sent emails off tl a wide range of agencys in thailand the other day. Had replies but a bit concerning as they say the success rate is in the 40% range. I worry that i go to all the trouble of flying to sydney and getting all the injections etc then spend two weeks in thailand and ckme home with no baby. Thats $15,000 gone and no baby. I have PSOC and managed to conceive son with metformin however this time around it has resulted in the worst side effects and been advised by the doc to stop immediately. Meant to go to specalist but dont know if i should attempt again and see what gender i get or just start with gender selection straight away??? What are your thoughts on the whole gender selection success rate????

I don't carry the translocation but it is our main fertility issue. We have been through one cycle of pgd, happy to chat but am not on these forums that often (although should get email notifications of replies now, just adjusted my settings)

3x miscarriages, balanced translocation likely culprit.

We are going through 3rd IVF and 2nd PGD Cycle at the moment. Husband has balanced translocation.
First cycle we decided to just go ahead with no PGD. 16 eggs collected, 10 fertilised but only had one embryo make it to blastocyst and replaced fresh, resulted in no pregnancy.
Second cycle and first PGD we had 14 eggs collected, can't remember how many fertilised, think maybe 9. 2 embryos frozen and tested. 1 was balanced and the other we couldn't get a result on. Balanced one replaced but no pregnancy. Second one replaced and resulted in pregnancy but missed miscarriage at 8weeks.
Have just had egg collection on second PGD (3rd IVF) cycle. 18 eggs collected, 14 mature and 13 fertilised. On day 2 at the moment so waiting for call tomorrow to see how it's all going.
It's nice to think that the possibility is there again but I know that we can get as far as we did last time and it end in the way it did. Really such a roller coaster!

Good luck with this round of pgd toto! Sorry it's been such a hard journey for you though. I am just about to start pgd (in july) and am dreading the anxiety from all the steps in the process. I'm the one with the translocation so that makes the outcome a bit different (worse! ) for me. Keep me posted on how the testing and transfers go. Which clinic are you with? I'm with repromed in Auckland.

Hi a.girl, How have things been for you? I haven't been on for a long time as we have not had a great year with the treatment last year and I really needed some time away from it all and couldn't really face talking about stuff. Back on the roller coaster again now! Hope all is well.

Hi toto. Sorry for the delayed reply. I haven't been logging in her lately either. I'm sorry to hear the last year has been rough for you too. I had 3 failed ivf treatments in the last year... I'm over it! We're not doing any more. It's such a waste of time and money for us. We can't get our embryos to day 5. In the 3 cycles, only one made it to day 5. Though it came back normal, it didn't thaw properly 🙁 We're going to try clomid soon to try and increase our odds every cycle. How are you getting on??
