Topic: Fertility Naturopath? Posted: 19 December 2010 at 12:01pm |
Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone has enlisted the help of a naturopath to help with TTC and general fertility, and if so:
How did you find it?
What did you have to do?
How long before you noticed any difference?
How did you choose which one to use?
and of course, any success stories?
Thanks,

Hi Scaredy,
Have a look at www.naturalhormonetherapy.co.nz
I have just had an appointment with these people and today is my first day of treatment.
The nurse there said I had no chance of getting pregnant with my hormones the way they were.
If you are using a naturopath in Tauranga they may know about them anyway.

Hey, we have unexplained infertility. We went and saw Sheran Marra at Motherwell in Auckland. She is really lovely and came reccommended and gave us all sorts of herbs/supplements to take. She even gave us dietary & healthy eating advice and put us on a detox for 6 weeks. Sadly we havent got UTD since seeing her but I do hear good things about naturopaths. We are taking a break from her at the moment because we have our first IVF cycle coming up in Feb so have decided to stop taking all the pills she had us on incase they interfer with the IVF drugs. We will be using a acupuncturist during IVF.

Hi ladies, thanks so much for the replies, gives me some more encourgement to carry on.
Sharpie, best of luck! I have enlisted the help of a naturopath from Auckland (was recommended to me) and we have managed to do everything online or over the phone so far! She thinks I too have a hormone imbalance and wants us to stop TTC'ing for three months to try and get it sorted out, so sounds very similar.
Hi Tiff8any, sorry to hear it didn't work out for you and the naturopath, not too long to go now before your IVF starts, must be getting excited about that! We are looking at another years wait for our next round so thought going down the naturopath way whilst waiting can't hurt, gotta try something!
Thanks again Spanky77.

Hey scaredy, thats exactly why we went down the naturopath route, whilst we were on the IVF waiting list, thought there was nothing to lose giving it a go (except $$$$ haha).
I am so excited that my IVF is just around the corner now BUT really scared as there have been many BFNs after IVF on here lately

I was hoping to have had a letter to say that we wld be moved up the waiting list further but haven't heard anything.
At this stage we are in November this year (I can actually say "this year" now), hope this year goes as fast as last year did.

We struggled with ttc for two years with #2 so I decided to visit a naturopath. I went for 6 months to Motherwell in Mt Eden and saw Rebekah Paddy. I was on alot of herbs, progerstrone spray and also had accupuncture every week.
My goal was to see if I had any changes/success within 6 months and then to move onto FA. I was charting, had a short cycle and a very short LP of only 8 days at the most. Personally I noticed absolutely no change in the whole 6 months of treatment, so moved on to FA and fell pregnant on my 5th cycle of clomid and using progesterone pessaries till 8 weeks.
I have heard very very positive stories from using naturopaths, but unfortunately it did not help me and cost quite alot of money. However, I am happy I went down that path prior to having to go on "real" drugs.

Sorry to butt in but this thread got me thinking so now I have a question to ask. We are in a small town and so no naturopath here so I did a search and found one who does online consults but I wanted to know if anyone who has been down the naturopath route could help me out with a fertility naturopath who would be able to consult online or on the phone etc.
Thanks

Hi Henna79, I'm in the same situation with small town etc, so the naturopath I use does all our consultations online, she does require we get blood tests and other things done which we have to go thru to a main centre for though.
Her name is Nikki Chad of Natural Reproductive Care, here is her website
http://www.naturalreproductivecare.co.nz/index.html
Hope that helps, and good luck!
Thanks for that Peachy, glad it worked out for you in the end with the help of Clomid, totally hear you on how expensive it can get!
Wow Tiff8ny, not long to go now for you, how exciting!

A woman experiences significant phases of hormonal change from adolescence, through pregnancy and motherhood and into menopause and older age. These changes influence not only her menstrual cycle, but her general health as well and may herald changes in nutritional needs, physical ability.
