So, I just wanted to post a bit of a vent about waitlists for fertility treatment. I know I am not the only one p#ssed off about them and I know that I am very lucky in many ways ... but still doesn't mean I am not cross.

We begged and borrowed and used all our savings for first round of ICSI (MFI) and I know so well how lucky we are to have DS ... and I know we would be fine if he were an only child. But he won't have any cousins (which seems relevant to me) and we can't even go on the waitlist for a publicly funded treatment until November 2013!!! So, we get on the waitlist in two and a half years and then wait another year and a half for the treatment ... four years! I know lots of people have to wait this long and have been trying for this long already. It is just really sh#tty.

Anyone else want to vent about costs of fertility treatment and waitlists?!?!?!

I can relate. I'm also TTC#2, with serious fertility issues (with me, DH is fine). We took 5 years to conceive our DD, and this time round it's not happening any quicker. But because we have one child under 12 years old, we have to be TTC for 3 years before we qualify to even get on the funding wait list, and then the wait list is 12+ months. So it'll be a long way away for us. So I'm trying anything and everything else in the meantime to try and let it happen without needing the public funded treatment. And we can't afford to do private funded IVF/IUI either.

It does seem to differ depending on where in the country you are. Which is also very frustrating. Guess different DHB's get different allowances, or divvy the money differently?
Me 38
DH 39
DD1 - 3 years, born prem at 30 weeks after 5 years TTC
DD2 - born prem at 33 weeks
