    Posted: 07 May 2011 at 7:39pm
So the subjuct says it all!! haha but anyway Im just starting to use them part time until I ran out of disposables and get more cloth, but I put my little fula in one last night and he pooed in it and I had no idea what to do with it!! So I just washed the poo off and put the dirty nappy in the bath until I did washing this morning. But I cant do that and im not even sure thats the right thing to do!!

So my Q's are do I just wash the poo off and put it in a bucket with or without water and with or without a soaker like sard?

Do I need to try really hard to get the poo marks off before leaving them for the wash?

And for any one who uses "mybaby" or "babyland" OSFA nappies off TM do you think you could put up a pic to see if im even putting them on him prob. These seem to be pretty good I put one on him yesterday evening at 5pm and took it off him at 9.45pm and it had no leaks!!!

Thanks for you replys

wash the poos off. put in bucket with a lid with all other nappies. put in the wash. simple

Dry bucket, no need to soak, no need to bleach. if your getting no leaks then you are doing it perfect! although any picture would be good for all us ladies to cluck over...

Yep, like Aethalia said. I use a waterproof bag instead to store nappies in, then throw it in the nappy wash every 2nd wash to keep smells away, so that's another option.
If you think you haven't got all the poo off, you can do a cold rinse cycle before you do the proper wash.

I wash the chunks off (sorry, gross) but don't worry about the stains. They are often still there after the wash, but come out in the sun when they get hung on the line to dry. If it's a real shocker, sometimes it takes two sun dries

Yea, I do exactly what's been said so far - and I agree with T_Rex, it's amazing what sun can do to poo stains.

But my main reason for posting was to say congratulations! I hadn't seen that you'd had your little boy

I rinse the nappies and put in the washing machine with the lid closed.

Glad the babyland naps are working for you. I got some sunnybaby ones which I imagine are very similar and they are only just starting to fit Rose.

I put them in a bucket with a lid. I also add a few drops of lavender oil or tea tree oil just so it smells of something other than poo lol. No soaking. Sometimes if we have a bad poo nappy ill soak it on its own first just to help get poo off.

I then either wash daily or every 2nd day. I always do a pre wash first, then i do a normal wash after.

I love the Sunny baby nappies. But dd is older. I have no issues with stains either.

I don't use liners, cos DD's skin reacts to them horribly. I probably wouldn't bother at home anyway but I do wish I could send them to daycare cos they don't rinse the nappies for me, just roll them up and chuck them in her wetbag. So 1-2 day old poos are pretty gross when I get to them! It would be great if they could ditch them at creche instead

That said, I know quite a few people who use them at home too. We are rural, and have a septic tank, so I'd rather not flush them here, and we don't have rubbish disposal (we go to the tip every 6 weeks or so) and I don't want to have a stinky bin sitting around for that long!!

T-Rex, have you tried microfleece liners, or does your daughter react to microfleece as well? At least then, when you get to the 1-2 day old poos, if the stains are really bad its only on the liner and not so much on the nappy.

Leahsmummy, liners are a pretty personal choice, but basically you have flushable, disposable (e.g. cheap supermarket brands that aren't flushable) or microfleece (washable with your nappies) liners. They're generally not quite as effective with runny breastfed poos, but very useful when it comes to solid-fed baby poo.

I use microfleece liners. That way most of the poo is on the liner, so shake/scrape the poo of that. And it tends to stop my nappies getting as stained. Some of the liners, are quite stained. I figure I can throw them out, if they look too bad. But not exactly going to throw away a nappy. lol. I don't get the point of disposable liners, ( or disposable wipes) with cloth nappies. As its something you have to take to another area to dispose of. iygwim. ie all cloth stuff gets put in the bin together, rather than carry a wipe or liner to the bin.

T-rex, we use liners and are on a septic tank. There's not much difference between those and flushing toilet paper TBH. Better than sending poos to a landfill.

edited to add: the two liners we've been most happy with were bambino mio, and the ones you get from Nature baby. both seem great with nappy rash (ie absence of!)

I love disposable flushable liners. That way I never have to deal with poo and the nappies stain less. And yo can get some lovely soft ones so no irritation on our baby's bum.

That makes me not feel as bad about flushing liners here every now and then....

I find liners good when we are out and about with cloth, that way I can flush away the poo and not carry it in my handbag all wrapped up in the nappy!!

I have just moved rural and have been told that I have to use eco-store brand for laundry, which is fine, but then have also heard that that's not good for my cloth nappies, which is not fine lol. What do you use? Would RG be another alternative?

Re. flushable/disposable liners, don't you find them frustrating when they've just been pee'd on though? I agree they are good for poo and not having to deal with it but I hate having to use them only to bin them with pee on them.

ditto that, its why i stopped using them though i know a lady who washes her disposable liners reckons they last 2 - 3 times in wash. real nappys brand. i just have a roll in case we ever get a rash, used them a bit but he isnt a big pooer so lost the point!

I just put mine in the wash with the nappy unless they've been poo'd on. They're real nappies ones too...not sure how long they last, I just put them back into rotation once they're dry, but I haven't had to throw one away yet because it was falling apart or anything. I use a combination of washable liners and flushable ones...usually try to time the use of the flushable ones for when he's due to poo, but lately he's been doing it on the washable ones - luckily they're nice and firm and it just rolls off into the loo!
I also find disposable liners easier to use with the itti SIO as you can snap it under the hourglass booster to hold it in place...
I always use a liner of some sort, just to protect my nappies!
