Come along to to our November slingmeet!

--------------------------------------------------

We're having our next slingmeet on Friday 5 November at 10:30am at our usual meeting place in the Petone Library meeting room.

It's a great chance to try out different carriers, including soft structured carriers, wraps (woven and stretchy), pouch slings, ring slings and mei tais, and have a chat with others who are interested in babywearing.

--------------------------------------------------

Our topic this month is "home-made slings" - we will have a range of people talking who have made their own slings, from simple pouch slings to a home-made Beco-style SSC!
(If you have made your own sling and would like to come along and share your experience, please PM me!)

--------------------------------------------------

All welcome, and please feel free to invite other mums, dads, caregivers and parents to be.

Bring some morning tea to share if you feel that way inclined. Coffee and tea will be provided.

There will also be a koha jar to cover the cost of the meeting room hire.

See you there!!

P.S. if there is anything specific you would like us to mention at the meet feel free to let us know by replying to this post, or on our facebook page, blog or email.

Oh I would love to come along to see if you know anything about slings for more than one baby?
I live just down the road from dressmart so will try make it, in saying that though I have just had my first MS of the morning so we'll see how I go!

What an awesome idea though! Love the thought of being able to us BW device, but always thought it would be hard to pick which would be the right type for us so this is awesome!

I can't make this today but SBM, I posted in the Welly/Hutt meet up - if you make it to that, can I bring my moby and you help me get him in there?!

Hi Zaylah, I don't personally know anything about wearing more than one baby at once, but I do know it can be done! Maybe one of the other ladies would know, or we can help you figure it out!!

CuriousG, I can definitely help you with your Moby at the other meetup!

If anyone else wants to come along, just come along! I don't know most of the people going, so you wont be an outsider, we all are!

There is a pic of twins being worn in a moby in the babywearing thread. I think it was Erynn and Violet, but not sure.

Hi there
I'm so glad that we finally have something like this in wgtn, and so bummed that i found you AFTER your first meet up! I am keen to join you all next time you meet please. I have a six month old and a three and a half year old and really need some help choosing a suitable baby carrier for my bub, as I've had limited success on my own. I've tried a front/backpack, and three different Premaxx bag slings, plus a traditional Moby style homemade wrap that i made. In each case, I've had lower back problems, and been concerned about bub's safety / breathing capacity etc. And have been freaked out by the recent courtcase against Infantino bc of bub deaths using their bag sling which is almost identical to my Premaxx. I wld so like to meet other baby wearing mums and see what they use / love / recommend, so PLS have another meet up soon! Thanks and hope to meet you all soon.
I'm not a Facebook member, so will keep an eye out on this forum for future meetings :-)

Hi Shelley!

We would definitely love to have you and your kiddies join us for the next meetup. We haven't set a date yet as I'm debating as to whether we should have it fortnightly or monthly... will post on here when we decide on something though

Next meetup is confirmed for this coming Friday (5 March) at 10:30am.
We'll be meeting at Benedict's Cafe in Maungaraki, Lower Hutt. Address 141 Dowse Drive, Maungaraki.

Maungaraki is a suburb on the western hills of Lower Hutt, off the motorway so really easy to get to. You go up onto the brand new flyover bit with a roundabout in the sky. Dowse Drive is the main road of Maungaraki, and I'm pretty sure there's only one bit with shops and the cafe along that road.

Google Maps will tell you where it is if my waffly directions aren't helpful to you ;)

Look forward to seeing everyone there!
