another thing to do now is if you buy meat to cut up for stews curries etc, cut it into cubes before you freeze it, then all you need to do is get it out thaw & either add whatever sauce or pop into crock-pot etc. |
That is such a good idea!! Thanks!

Am I the only one that never has leftovers enough to freeze?? I seem to end up with one portion left over for lunch the next day if I'm lucky.... I guess we just eat too much, LOL

We never have leftovers, either, and if we do, the HOTROD nabs 'em for lunch. You can tell by the size of his motor that there's never leftovers, though, aye?

Whenever I cook double I make sure I put aside the "double" or second portion before dishing up the current night's meal. Otherwise we get greedy

Usually I have left overs, cause the sauce/recipe mixes serve 4 and there is only 2 of us. So i make up the whole recipe and divide it up before I serve dinner.
Stock up on things, like frozen chicken fillets (tegal takeouts are great), fish fingers, hash browns, pizzas etc. Easy to cook em up in the oven, stick em between a bun w sauce and hey presto chicken or fish burgers.

Bumping this up because I have the exact same question and it's been 6 months so hopefully I can greedily gather more ideas from you all.

I found that the Asian supermarkets sell bulk lots of plastic pots with lids which are ideal for freezing stuff. You can use a permanent marker to let you know what's in there as bolognese and chilli can look similar when frozen!
Handy to write the date on it too.
I also use these now that Ro is 6 months old to transfer frozen ice cubes of veggies into and label them up.

I definately have been starting to freeze leftovers in prep for bubs arrival. But, DF comes home, opens up the freezer and eats it all anyway, haha. Oh well, I have told him he is on cooking duty for that first week then :P
