HELP!

10 year old girl (not gluten free) and 5 year old boy (gluten free) are getting sick of having the same old things in their lunch :/ NEED IDEAS! To keep it simple I try give them the same things..

10y/o wont eat sushi - 5 y/o loves it and other than that its basically been GF wraps or left overs that are able to be eaten cold!

NEEDS to be healthy and NOT come in a packet sort of things as well..

They always have heaps of fruit and plain unsweetened yoghurt and also Rice Cakes or Crackers but need new ideas... Any suggestions would be much appreciated - going shopping tomorrow!

I use GF bread & put what ever he wants on it, except peanut butter as our kindy doesn't allow that.

Hummus (homemade) with the pams little packets of rice crackers.

A Kea Cookie (GF), some of the other G/F biscuits. Plain chips occasionally.

An Apple & mandarin or kiwifruit.

Biscuits I've made, I've had really good success in making shortbread with the Organ flours.

My kids get the same thing every single day lol I mix it up with what I make, museli bars or biscuits.

Thanks :)

Yeah we have done the hummus and veg sticks/rice crackers thing. I also put Natural unsweetened yoghurt in a container with grapes or sultanas in it.

School doesn't really like kids having cookies even if they're home made which is a pain :/ I'm going to give the GF bread for sandwiches another go but in the past he hasn't liked it all that much! (Falls apart etc)

Iv been trying to think of things I could pre make and freeze to put in lunches - if that makes any sense haha. I thought about a GF savoury scone/muffin type thing? Like make a tonne of them then freeze and take out as needed.

I think maybe I over do it and stress a bit much about how much stuff they have in their lunches too though :/

Can you make GF pikelets? They freeze well and you could put a variety of toppings with them?

Nuts and seeds? Dried Fruit?

When we were young we had little thermos' and took soup to school, but I don't know if you can still get them?

GL, it's hard to do a healthy, rubbish free lunch box when you're catering to a special eating need as well.

Yeah I'm going to get some Almonds this week - trouble is the 10y/o is a lot fussier as well which makes it more difficult again!

Mini muffins freeze well :) both savory & sweet.

When C started kindy & they were phasing in a new food policy, I kept reiterating that he was G/F & D/F at that stage so there wasn't anyway they were going to dictate what I could put in his lunch box.

When your child has a limited diet, normal food rules go out the window as far as I'm concerned.

Jessaroo, I'm meaning the actual brand GF for the bread, it's awesome :) it's cheaper than other brands too. I get it from NW.
