    Posted: 01 July 2011 at 4:48pm
Hi everyone,

I'm new here, so I'll just introduce myself first.
My name is Jen, I'm 30 and my partner (43) and I are currently on the waiting list for IVF. Hopefully our intake is in September and treatment month might be December or January. We have been trying to conceive naturally for 2,5 year before we decided to get some help. We then found out that both my tubes are blocked, but uterus is ok to carry luckily, and partner has very low mobility and low count. (Which is strange since he's got two children from a previous relationship, 2 girls, now 17 and 19)

Anyway, I've already read a few of the topics here and they were very helpful, I'll defenately keep in touch.
There is one thing that I couldn't find and that I am particularly interested in at the moment. My partner just found an interesting vacancy in Northland (we've been wanting to move there for a few years now), but now I am worried about the whole IVF proces...will we have to start over with the tests and appointments or will the whole thing be transferred to this district? Will we go back to the start of the waiting list or what?
I am trying not to stress about it, since he's only applying for it, it's not sure he'll get it, but he's got a good chance, but as most of you can understand it's nerve wrecking as it is, without the whole moving thing.
Has anyone had to move while on the waiting list?
And how did this work out?

We're currently with Infertility + in Auckland, we've been seen by Dr. Barry Lowe, but it seems like we're not seeing him anymore when we go through IVF? Not quite sure, but will find out at intake I guess.

Hope someone is able to help me with my question, eventhough I'm new.
Thanks in advance!

Jen

Sorry Jen can't help you re: moving .... I know the lists are specific to regions but surely they could transfer you to another location??

See you around some of the threads, and GL for your upcoming cycle
5 IVF/ICSI Cycles - 10 embryo's, 8 transfers, all BFN's.
Our journey to parenthood is over, and we join the unfortunate many for whom IVF does not work.

Hi

We moved recently and and were on the wait list for public funded IVF in canterbury.

Unfortunately if you move from one District Health Board region to another one you go right back to the bottom of the wait list. That has happened to us so we have had to pay for a private round.

You dont have to do all the tests again as you just need to get your medical records transferred.

Hi Milo,

Thanks for your reply! I spoke to our fertility clinic yesterday and since we are planning to move up north there's really no option for us. There's nothing up there, no clinics for ivf, so we'll still have to come down for everything apart from certain blood tests. We're debatting what to do now. Either we both go and travel backwards and forwards, but that's going to be quite hard, specially for me. Or i stay here and my partner will travel back for certain things, which is a do-able option. Or we both stay here, we're on the list for September intake, so if we succeed with one attempt, it'll be all over by about february...so hard decision. I'd rather just both stay here until then, because I think it's going to be quite hard not having him around all the time going through it...but not sure right now.

Just thought I'd let you all know, we've decided to stay at least another year, to really dedicate ourselves to the IVF, we'll go from there. I'm very happy we made this decision, because it's all gonna be stressful enough as it is. Thanks for reading everyone and hopefully i can tell you all that we have really started soon! ;)
