Sheza, it's really easy to get salmonella from chicken, and because you haven't cooked it yourself you never know. KFC is notorious for undercooked chicken... just better to be safe than sorry!
Well, I am going to try and stop being in denial and move on over here. Just very nervous as I have absolutely no symptoms whatsoever, and this is the same as what happened last time when I miscarried.
Trying to be positive though! Stick bubba stick!!!
Kind of excited too.

Hey Sheza,
How did your first day at work go?
|
Posted By: ElfsMum
Date Posted: 01 October 2007 at 9:17pm
i was just going to ask..yeah food poisoning in general is a tricky one..we are 20x more likely to get it..lots of people still eat most things except ham and seafood but i avoid any takeaway food just about..you just don't know where it has been cooked etc and for how long its been sitting there .....salmonella and listeria mostly..when you see midwife they will give you a food safety book it's all written in there..
Sending positive vibes to you Laurie.. I know how it feels!

Congratulations Sharne! I sent you a PM through NZWP cos I hadn't looked on here before seeing it there. So excited for you guys!
Re KFC, you can just take it home and nuke the heck out of it in the microwave, that's what I do every time we have it to be sure. I couldn't go 9 months without a Works burger. Oh, and if you ask them at Subway they'll heat your meat for you (even though the guy said to me, 'you can see that its steaming right? We do keep them quite hot!' - I told him it was a pg thing and he shut up).
|
Posted By: Freesia
Date Posted: 02 October 2007 at 7:34am
It's up to each person to decide how strictly they want to follow the guidelines but I think its better to be safe than sorry too. I have avoided subway as well due to the fact that they say to avoid pre-prepared salads because you don't know if or how well they have washed their salad ingredients. I figure it's only 9 months, it can be done Although I've now got this huge list of 'banned' foods that I'm going to stuff my face with once baby comes
-------------
|
Posted By: Shezamumof3

Yeah, well Im staying clear of subway and any salad thats been sitting out, and Im not eating cold meats at all. But I thought the chicken was ok cos its well cooked(no pink) and its SOOO yummmmyyy But I'll stay away from that too now, I dont want to risk anything this time around.

I had my HCG today aswell, the nurse didn't bother to call me. The receptionist gave me my results.
Mine was 182 at 18 DPO and now I am really worried that is too low. Does anyone know what the range should be?
I feel like I can't even get excited by this because I am just too worried all the time!

here Laurie:
Guideline to hCG levels during pregnancy:
hCG levels in weeks from LMP (gestational age)* :
* 3 weeks LMP: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
* 4 weeks LMP: 5 - 426 mIU/ml
* 5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml
* 6 weeks LMP: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml
* 7 - 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml
* 9 - 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml
* 13 - 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
* 17 - 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml
* 25 - 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml
If you are worried ask for a follow up test to see they are increasing

I don't know why I am being such an irrational worry wort!! This is just silliness!!
I guess that table shows that the range can be hugely different. I think I am just stressing as when I miscarried, at 5 weeks 4 days, my levels were at 20,000. It doesn't seem realistic that I could replicate this.
Not coping very well.

Oh Sheza, sorry to hear you feel so rotton. And sorry to hear too that you're not having a fabulous time at your new job. Hopefully things improve... it will probably get busier as Christmas approaches?
Me, I still feel nothing in the way of symptoms. I have very small boobs so I would notice a difference but there is nothing and they are not sore.
The night before last I had wind all night, that was agony, but that hasn't come back so I am glad about that!
Trying not to focus too much on the HCG until I have a better idea, but I can't help but feel that my intuition is trying to tell me something? Hopefully I am wrong!
How is everyone else feeling?

Welcome Jo!! Yep me nd laurie have both had a m/c this year so we know how you feel, so we can all be nervous together!
Laurie, I dont really have many symptoms this time around either, my boobs arnt sore, Ive just been feeling really tired and Ive had more....dischargy stuff down there I keep thinking OMG its blood but its not, maybe its a preggie thing...
How are ya feeling SER?

Sheza, me too! I keep noticing a 'damp' feeling down there. It feels like AF has started... I've wiped about a billion times but it looks just like CM.
I have got wind again now, it's really painful. Am sipping peppermint tea as supposedly that helps. For the last few days I have been burping like a trooper. It was like this last time, so hopefully it is a good sign, not a bad one.
Hopefully we are both sweet with our little bubs. Have you seen a doctor yet? Are you going to have bloods checked or a scan? I think I might ask for a scan at 8 weeks when I see my doctor on Monday.... Friday's levels being promising of course!!
|
Posted By: Shezamumof3

Yeah oh man I wind this morning when I was driving DF to work it was so sore!!! I had to drive leaning forward to take the pressure off a bit.
Yep ive wiped a billion times today aswell! and when I do it like CM, clear stuff. Im going to my midwife(Same lady as last time) on Tuesday 9th October, and she is sending me for bloods and Im going to ask her about a scan, because as you would know, its SO hard not knowing whats going on down there, Im so worried about everything. If I can SEE that our baby is ok and has a wee heart beat then I can relax a lot.
I think we will both be fine Laurie, by the sounds of it we seem to have the same symptoms goin on. I think my boobs are just a bit bigger(Im a D cup) I feel like a DD at the moment, and Im extra tired, like Im ready for bed at 8 kinda thing!! Im going to head off to bed very soon, I dont start work until 3 tomorrow but I have to work till 8 i9ts only 5 hours but its at night time so that sucks...

Oh I did do that, so Im not sure whats going on there, I'll have a play round in a minute.
I dont start until 3pm today and then I only have to work 5 hours until 8pm. I woke up this morning feeling a bit seedy, and then when I got home had to run to the loo! Not to throw up but for number 2's!(sorry TMI hehe) and the weird thing was it was just normal I didnt have diarreah(tmi!) but just HAD to go. Anways! Dont want to gross everyone out too much lol!

Still normal!! I don't even feel overly tired either. Some positive symptoms would really help about now!
Though last night I had a wee look at my boobs, and the bumps around the nipples are really, really pronounced. It's quite ugly in fact.
Hope your day at work goes ok Sheza.

Also, my temperature took a pretty big dip today, but it's the first night I have slept right through the night for almost a week. Maybe that's the reason?

Im sure about the temps thing as I never did any of that while ttc. I dont have too many symptoms this time around either, makes me worry a bit but Im everything is fine in there, I REALLY would love to have a u/s so I can see with my own eyes that things are going good.

Yep! Know that feeling!
I'm gonna ask for one at 8 weeks (all things going well) as two weeks later we are visiting friends and family in Australia, and it would be nice to tell people then. Not that they won't get suspicious when I can't go on all the rides at Dreamworld!!!
My sister-in-law is due to have her twins on 15th October. I am SO excited!!

Twins would be great... but imagine the work! Gosh, it would be hard.
It's a lovely story for my SIL. She is 34 and her and her DH got married in January. She was really stressed about her fertility as she had been very sick with Celiac's Disease (severe gluten allergy). Anyway, turns out fertility problems don't exist. Theirs was a honeymoon baby... that turned into babies!
I'm really happy for them.

Im not feeling anything yet really, except being super tired, and I was just cleaning the bedroom and was out of breath after chucking a heap of clothes on to the bed that I need to fold. My boobs arnt sore this time, but Laurie I have them bums around my nipples too and my nipples seem more "Puffy"...I did feel a wee bit crook this morning so that might be some m/s kicking in.

Hi June mummys! How are you all feeling? Boy I don't know how some of you ladies go through this more than once! All I can see is that my mum can abandon her hopes of 7 grandchildren!!!! I feel so sick all the time its not funny, I'm actually cuddling a bucket right now. Threw up for first time this morning- thats the last time I have a gingernut for breakfast! Like some of you, my boobs are real sore too and im sure that they are a bit bigger! I actually went out and bought some bras yest (Bendon are doing a buy one get one half price promotion if you have a fitting), including a maternity bra!! I know, its so early, but man it's really comfy!

I dont want to go to work, I want to go and lie down but I know I'll fall asleep and probably be late for work. My job is so boring, and I have to stand all day and when I get home my legs and back ache so bad I regret leaving my office job a bit now, but Im not going to be able to find another job being pregnant and all because basically no one will hire a pregnant women!
Oh well all going well on the preggers front, I'll only be there for another 7 months!

NOT HAPPY!
My nurse called me today to give me my blood test results, two days after the receptionist gave them to me. She told me the HCG was at 37.
That's way too low for how far along I should be. She has no idea where the receptionist got 182 from.
How can people make such errors? I am really upset and frustrated at the moment. I feel really down.
