Ok, I have ALWAYS been slightly nutso about the festive season.... I would leave the tree up ALL year if i could, and I even listen to my christmas cds all year (oh the shame!)- they cheer me up! Anyhoo, I am REALLY looking forward to christmas, and sharing it with our wee boy who will be 6 1/2 months at Christmas. I have decided not to go all out and buy him everything (oh, the willpower..)because he is only little and dosen't know, but I have picked some cool toys for him and books too.
So what are all you other new mums (and you oldies as well) getting for your little bundles,a dn what do you oldies reccommend for the first Christmas?

found it but didn't really have much on it.
Jacob will be about the same age as what Ayja Will be.
lol. Paris was 4 months at her first xmas. we got her rattles, clothes, and lots of FIRST things, stacking cups, blocks, things that are easily worked... just think a couple of months after xmas they will be at the stage where they like to work things out... have toys that reward their exploration. go to shops and look at the ages on them... fisher price has toys from birth - 3 mths, 3 - 6 months, 9 mths etc.. you can also get stuff that suits a large age range.. and build on to it at each xmas and birthday.
we got ayja some roll arounds for this xmas - pretty much the same as peek a blocks, but round instead - we got paris peek a blocks at that age and she loved them, and now ayja is really into them, picking them up and looking at what's inside, she likes to lick the bumpy side of them, funny child! some people don't like noisy stuff - but we usually get lots of things that are nice and musical. i think it's nice when a child's efforts are rewarded, they will want to do it again.

one downside to the peek-a-blocks is that if ur kids anything like Xander, the toy inside willl frustrate the hell outta them as they may not understand that the little toy inside the block cant come out.
he REAAALLLLLLLYYYYYY wanted the lil car that was inside one block and got majorly pissed that he couldnt get/have it to play with.

Well Ana got Hannah some Little People for her birthday so I might have to start a collection. I can see this turning into an unhealthy obsession.

I did read that other post, but like you said, Janine, there wasn't much on it. He has got some peekablocks he got given when he was born, and I haven't got them out yet (I was looking at them yesterday thinking, hmmm.) We are going to get the peekablock train, and he has some cool lamaze learning toys, so might just get some more of those. SOOOOO exciting! Was also looking at the leappad "Tad".... See, its easy to spend lots, aye?

Aimee - I found myself at the likes of KMart, Warehouse, Toyworld, BabyCity, BabyFactory etc just looking at toys and how and when Arna would use them!! I'd spend about 30 minutes just looking and then walk out and go looking somewhere else!! Haha
Also I went to friends houses and got ideas what they were giving their children for toys! It was great!!
Christmas wise - Arna isn't getting much this year as we are moving 2 weeks after xmas (long distance-ish too) - lucky she doesnt really know what is happening!! But we are making up for it for her bday (Beg June)

Abby will be neary one this christmas so I went a bit mad, we also got peek a blocks (There are to many to choose from) and stackable toys and musical toys etc I could go on forever. Lol xandersmum I can see Jayden doing that when he sees abbys. Still haven't worked out what we are getting the boys yet apart from a transformer, even though there is 4 years between them we still have to get them the same.

it's frustrating aye... what we are getting ayja will probably end up being taken over by paris - even though she's a bit old for the toys it won't stop her wanting them.. but hopefully she'll just get the idea of "showing" ayja how to work them.. cos so far it's been hard to get her to grasp the concept cos all the toys ayja has pretty much are ones that were paris's..at least the new ones will specifically be ayjas.
