Hi Ames
Congratulations!
I'm also due in early July - somewhere between the 4th and 13th. Bubs number one for us. It's all feeling slightly surreal as it happened in the first month of trying!
Look forward to hearing how it goes.

Hi Fliss,
Yay another due in July! This is number one for us too. How many weeks are you? I was 5 on Saturday....have just started to feel a little queezy (fingers crossed it doesn't get too much worse). How are you feeling? I am planning to ring around midwives in the next couple of days to see if we can get one. Have you had any luck yet?
Look forward to hearing from you

Hi Ames
I'm technically six weeks on Thursday. My GP is sending me for a dating ultrasound on Thursday so that should give me a better idea.
The queeziness kicked in as soon as I got the result from the pregnancy test, so I'm not sure how much is nerves! I'm getting more nausea each day (started at 3am this morning) but hopefully will be OK. I'm just struggling to eat all the things the books tell me to eat, and to drink enough water. I also feel faint quite a bit at work.
Started the midwife search yesterday and happily found someone within a couple of hours. I was amazed at how few midwives have websites (I'm a google fan) and had to get the yellow pages out. Still, have found someone who sounded really lovely on the phone, so hopefully will be the same in person. I see her in 2 1/2 weeks. We don't know anyone in this area with kids (moved here recently) so couldn't rely on personal recommendations. It does feel like a leap of faith deciding on someone on the basis of a 5 minute phone conversation. I've been a bit cheeky and put my name down with someone else as well in case we don't click.
Good luck with your search!

Hi bsimon, Yay another July mummy! Is this your first baby?
Had a bit of scare the day before yesterday. Had a slight bleed...I was so scared it was all over, but have had a blood test and my hormones are increasing nicely as they should be so just taking it easy for the next couple of days. They said that quite a lot of people can have a bleed and carry on to have a normal pregnancy/baby so nothing to worry about. (easier said than done) I keep dreading going to the toilet just in case it happens again!

Hi - Just a few days ago I found out that I'm pregnant, due 06/07/08 ( spooky set of numbers!) This is my first pregnancy, I'm 33 but feel about 16 all over again.... No morning sickness yet. Am completely overwhelmed with all the stuff to decide upon, midwives etc and am don't want to get too excited in case something goes wrong, as it's such early days. Also - my partner and I have decided not to tell anyone for a while so it is great to have this forum!

Welcome to the new mums!
Had the scan yesterday - not sure why my GP sent me for it as it was too early to see much. Estimated due date is now 9 July.
Ames, I'm glad everything is OK. I also get nervous about going to the loo just in case I see bleeding.
Haylee, I know what you mean about having this forum. We have decided to tell our immediate family and a couple of friends (and my boss cos of morning sickness) but no one else till the 12 week mark, so it is nice to be able to share the excitement!

Just found out last week that I am pregnant and due around 12/7/08. Very excited as I am 38 and been trying for a while and thought it would never happen. This is our first and we are both very excited. No morning sickness or sore boobs yet but no doubt that will come. All the best for all the new mums in July.

Have just found out that there are only 5 midwives in my area, and Doctor suggests we speak to friends to find out which one to go with - we don't want to tell anyone yet though so this could be a bit tricky. Does anyone have any tips on finding out the reputation of midwives without letting slip I'm pregnant??
Jennymay - congratulations - it's amazing to feel so excited about it all isn't it? Best wishes for the next few weeks.

Hi Haylee
We had the same problem - we're new to the area and know about 4 people with kids but didn't know them well enough to want to tell them! Being a fan of the web, I did a google search something like "midwife auckland recommendations". On the baby treasures site there is a forum about midwives with lots of recommendations - you could give that a go. It's so hard when you're making a decision by net or phone - you have to hope you get along when you meet them. I'm meeting mine next week,so fingers crossed!
Another thing you could try is your GP's practice nurse - does she know any of them or know of any mums who have been particularly happy??
Good luck!

Hello Everyone, I'm a long time lurker of the Oh Baby boards but this is my first post.
DH and I decided to start not stopping a bubba from coming along a few weeks ago, thinking it would take at least three months for anything to happen but low and behold it seems there was a bubba waiting in the wings for us. I ovulated around 24/25 Oct did the BD on the 23rd Oct, am now 5 days late for AF and got BFP this morning. EDD based on first day of last AF is 19 July 2008 eeeeek just about sums it up
We are honestly in shock. The good kind but still shock.
Of course its very early days and anything can happen but I know I'm gonna need to share this secret with someone over the next few weeks and the Oh Baby boards have always been so supportive so here I am!
H and I are 32, married earlier this year in NZ and live in the UK at the moment, been here almost 5 yrs so have their medical system to deal with as well of which we know nothing. Fun and Games ahead.
It doesnt feel real right now, guess I need to wait another couple of weeks for the MS to kick in!!!!
Take care all x

How exciting ladies - good luck for all of you!
A wee tip, cannot remember who said it about finding it hard to eat/drink, but i found with both pregnancies it was hard to get enough water as having full glasses make me feel icky.
Something that really worked well for me was getting a mini pump bottle, 3/4 filling it and adding a small amount of a raro sachet (i loved the watermelon or strawberry ones) just enough to colour the water slightly and give some taste. Then freeze it. I had about 3 bottles that would rotate throught he freezer, or i would always have one with me. It means you always have some nice cool water to drink - which is great around this summer period when heat can make you queasy too. But, it also means you can only take small amounts at a time as you have to wait for it to defrost - so no full queasy feeling afterwards.
With eating you'll probably hear this a million trillion times, but eat little amounts often - the nausea is FAR worse usually because your body gets so hungry it makes you feel sick, if you eat as soon as you get those little hunger pangs it's not so bad, crackers and cheese, and fruit are really good little snacks you can take along with you.
I also found gingernuts to be my friend to nibble on to ward off the nausea, (now they have mini ones which means you don't have to fight you way through a whole one!) and half flat sprite worked great too as it gave me a boost in blood sugars and just seemed to work well.
Hope some of this helps anyone that needs it. Being queasy in the hot weather can get a bit unbearable.
Well done ladies, welcome to the boards and good luck or the rest of your pregnancies. Make sure you come over to the general chat section sometimes and get to know us oldies

I'm due in July too. I got th BFP 2 weeks ago, and saw this post for July Babys and got so excited that there were others out there in same situation.
EDD 12 July! I have my first midwife appt in 2 weeks and can't wait to meet her!
I'm finding it so hard not to tell anyone. We have only told our immediate family. I will be 6 weeks tomorrow, 6 more weeks and everyone will know!
I almost let it slip with a friend, but I made a speedy recovery! Over the next 6 weeks I am thinking up clever ways to tell people we are having a baby! It sort of makes it a bit easier to keep it in.

Hi all
How is everyone doing? A bit of tiredness, sore boobs and the occasional wave of nausea here.
I guess I really should get onto the whole midwife thing too but I'm a bit torn as to what to do so might just share why with you guys and if anyone has an oppinion feel free to share it.
I was just going to use the midwife that we used 2 and a half years ago with my dd, I found her very nice and my husband and I both found her to be excellent at the birth. She has about 30 years of experience so she knows what she's doing.
However, my sil used that same one with her birth 2 years ago and then last year used her again and most unfortuately had a miscarraige. She was very unhappy with the midwife because she sent her for a scan where they found out the awful news and then she didn't really follow up any more with her.
She's now pregnant again and has a different midwife and is highly recommending this one.
I'm not quite sure what to do as I just feel like I already know the midwife I used last time and trust her but I get the feeling that if I use that one again my sil will be just waiting to say I told you so.
Confusing I know, sorry if that was a bit long and boring. I will be 6 weeks on Thursday and going for an early scan at the fertility clinic the following week so I'm getting excited now!

Hey all,
Have been too nervous to post in this thread up until now, but had a scan this morning and saw one little bean with one little heartbeat measuring bang on for dates so fingers crossed for a sticky wee Iggle Piggle. 6 weeks exactly today, due around 17 July.
This pregnancy is already kicking my butt, I have been throwing up in the morning for the past week and feeling nauseous all day, and this morning I spewed up in the carpark at Dressmart in front of a whole heap of people, man I felt like an idiot! So I guess that means that the morning sickness is going to suck this time around too. Here's hoping I avoid ending up in hospital for rehydration again!
Have texted my midwife, she's going to call later today but am thinking I probably won't need to see her till after Xmas as she delivered all three of my girls and there's not really much else she can do till I'm a bit further on anyway, altho I might pop in and see her with the gremlins to say hello.
Congrats to all the other due in July mums, it seems funny posting here when it's not that long ago that I was a due in Oct '06 mummy! Our Oct '06 group rocks, and 13 months on we all still keep in touch, so here's hoping the July '08 one is just as cool!
Kaelanismum - go with your gut instinct with choosing a midwife, what is right for SIL might not neccessarily be what's right for you, and if you were happy with your last midwife then go with her. I put up with an OB I didn't like much just to be able to keep the midwife I wanted when I was preg with the gremlins coz she'd been so awesome when I had Maya, and she was one of the first people I texted when we found out our surprise Iggle Piggle was on the way coz she is so awesome. Yet friends have used her and found her just 'ok'. We obviously just 'gel'.

Big congratulations to all the new July Mums-To-Be!!!! Its been a week now since we got the BFP so I'm adjusting quite well, only had one melt down recently but DH has been really good so we are just getting on with things now and hoping things progress well with the bubba.
I am feeling tired but that could just be the emotional overload, no sickness but its a bit early for that I think, I am well off my food though and forcing myself to eat - which is sooooooooooooooo not like me!!!! Infact I usually stress eat, I'm the only person I know that didnt lose weight before my wedding
Dont get me started on the sore b00bies though, I have to carry them to the bathroom in the mornings!!!!
We havent told anyone yet, living in the UK its easy to keep the secret, I think we are going to tell the parents at Christmas when we are about 10/11 weeks and fairly sure all is well, something along the lines of 'Oh Mum we have another pressie for you but it wont be delivered (boom boom) until July' or something like that anyway!!!! She'll be mad we kept it a secret but DH is adamant wants to be sure all is well.
Kaelanismum - I think you should go with your instincts regarding your midwife, I feel bad your SIL had a sad experience like that but there may have been a reason for the midwife not keeping in touch, its important you have confidence in your midwife and a good rapport and it sounds like you already have that built in with this one.
I'm in the UK and dont even get to select my own midwife, just get assigned to the one that works from my Drs surgery.
You'll love this, I dont even get to see a Dr until I'm 9 weeks!!!! When I rang for an appt and said I got a positive HPT they booked me an appt for Dec 18th to see the midwife!!!!!!!!!
But the did arrange for me to book my scan also for 12 weeks so that is schedule for Jan 3rd. Seems so odd to have a scan booked and no medical professional has even seen me to confirm I'm actually up the duff!!!!!
Fun and games ahead me thinks!

Morning all! How are the other July mums-to-be this morning? Better than me I hope! I am feeling crook as a dog, and not looking forward to weeks on end of this, altho it usually eases off about 14-16 weeks or so. Trying to focus on the wee bean growing and not on the sickness.
I spoke to my midwife, she is brilliant as usual, and she's booking me in to see her at around 10 weeks, I'm off to Australia for Xmas on the 19 Dec which will muck up my NT scan, but I'll have a scan done just before I go and if bubs is too small to get the NT measurement I will arrange one in Sydney while I am away. I had to do that with the gremlins as I was over there and needed a growth scan, and it is bloody expensive!

Kaelanismum - yep, our EDD's are pretty close! Was Kaelani early or late? Maya was born at 38 weeks after spontaneous labour and the gremlins were born at 36 weeks after an induced labour, so will be interesting to see how this one goes. I used to think I wanted to be induced at 38 weeks regardless coz Maya was big for gestation and the placenta functions less well after 40 weeks, but now I'm thinking I might just wait and see what happens. This is definitely our last baby so I want to relax and enjoy the pregnancy as much as I can instead of stressing like I did with the gremlins!

Hi all,
Well I'm still feeling yuck, but it comes and goes, so some days better than others! Doctor says I'm officially due 21st July, but as my cycles were quite long, wont really know till after the scan in a couple of weeks... Also wondering (as someone totally new to all of this) can anyone recommend a midwife in West Auckland? (have a long list but would be nice not just to pick one randomly!) My friends with kiddiewinkles are all around central Auckland, and besides, it's hard to ask people when you haven't told anyone! Hope everyone else is doing ok?

Blondy - a couple of friends have used The Midwives in Green Bay, and highly recommend them. I choose to travel over to Glen Innes to see mine but that's coz I'm a nutter and she's put up with me thru both my last pregnancies ![](smileys/smiley2.gif)

Hi Maya, Thanks for that - I guess I hadn't considered traversing the rest of Auckland! Because I work in South Auckland, I guess I need to find someone (available of course), somewhat en route with my commuting! Will look them up!

The other thing to consider if you go with someone out of your area is whether or not they can do your postnatal care, or whether they'll contract it out to someone closer to you. I am right on the border of where my midwife will travel to for home visits, otherwise I'd either have to take baby to her, or she'd contract out a postnatal midwife.

Hi ladies
Maya Kaelani came at 39 weeks so it will be interesting to see if we have another slightly early one I would rather a week early then a week late!!
Kiwikid thanks for your thoughts on the midwife thing, think I will ring her tomorrow.
Well I was worried coz I had felt fine the last couple of days (silly aye, can't win really!) so I ordered an hcg test this morning just to make sure everything is ok and it came back that all is fine (7359 and I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow dispite what my ticker is saying it seems to be stuck) so I guess that's ok.
Strangely enough I started feeling sick again this afternoon so I think my ms will be afternoon sickness!

Hi Kye, i had a MC early in July this year. And when i found out that i was pregnant two days ago, i felt all confused. Scared and happy at the same time. My doctor says i should wait till another two weeks to see her for a blood test but it is such a long wait. Just need to keep myself occupied then. Let me know how the blood test goes.

I just wish i could wake up and the 12 weeks be over! 2 weeks is a long time to wait I hope it goes quickly! Will keep you posted on the blood test results, not sure if they will tell me much next week probably will tell me more, hopefully showing the increase of what it should be
hows everyone else going?
I normally play touch rugby tonight but dr said not too so dh has said i have a headache not sure how long that excuse will be good for! also when my boss went out for coffee I asked for a hot chocolate! he looked at me like he didnt hear me right as i always need my coffee to get me through the day but have cut caffine out now...Ive started having a spirilina juice made up instead...is spirilina ok? not sure why i think it might not be?

Spirulina is fine, and so is coffee up to about 3 cups per day
Pregnancy after m/c is like a rollercoaster, I never quite got over the fear that I would lose the gremlins right up until they were born, but I've promised myself not to stress so much this time, that things will be what they will be and nothing I do will change it so I might as well just relax. Easier said than done tho!

Hey there Ladies, I have a question I'm hoping you can shed light on... my lilypie ticker says I am 5 weeks and 4 days based on the criteria I entered to set it which was last AF. But then when I go on to Fertility Friend website and that says I am 6 weeks and 2 days. Based on counting from 8/10 which the first day of my last AF 6 weeks 2 days is correct - is that what I go on do you think?
Thanks x

You are right maya, think i should try to relax more and not thing about it. Just hope that everything goes quickly till i wake up and it is 12 weeks. My boss asked what we wanted for lunch yesterday as normally we get cold meats, brie, etc and i just told him that i have gone off it for a few months and also drink once a week ie Sunday so he doesnt question me to having drinks with my team after work. And he wont know that i dont drink at all now. hehe.

Any results yet Kye?
I'm not feeling quite as icky-sicky today, I had to take Sienna for her hearing test and it was really hot in there so I had to sit out on the grass with her for a while afterwards until I felt better. The nanny is here today tho so I did get to have a nap this morning. Spoke to the midwife again too and I have my first appt on the 18 Dec just before I go to Oz for Xmas.
Am debating whether to buy or hire a doppler. I hired one with the gremlins, but it ended up costing me as much as it would have if I'd bought it and if I buy one I can always resell it on TM afterwards. Decisions, decisions.

Hi all,
I was actually having a bit of a "OMG - what have we done! We are going to be parents!" kind of freak-out day yesterday, especially after viewing some of the belly bump thread! (I can't believe how big I am going to get in the next 8-odd months...) and feeling nauseous all yesterday didn't help either - even eating didn't make it go away. But am feeling calmer (and less sick) today, and have arranged a meeting with a MW which is some weight off my mind.
Hope everyone else is doing ok - yay Friday!

Thats what I'm trying to focus on - the sicker I am, the better it is for Iggle Piggle. Which is hard when I have constant nausea and am throwing up on a daily basis whinge whinge.
I had a freaky dream last night (gotta love those random preggy dreams! ) that baby had spina bifida or some other abnormality, and they were saying baby couldn't survive, and I kept arguing with them and saying I won't terminate, I won't terminate. I woke up crying.
Having a cruisy day at home with the kids today, got a morning nap in while the gremlns had their morning nap and Maya watched a DVD, but I have to brave Countdown when Willie gets home...

Do you think I should be worried that I dont have any MS at this stage? Everything happened so quick for us that I'm kinda in the What Will Be Will Be mind set and if things are not progressing well at this stage there isnt really much I could do about it anyway but I can see how retching over the toilet bowl would be somewhat reassuring lol!
I had horrible heart burn yesterday, burny sicky feeling and had to have a lie down, which ended up in a wee nap (work from home so shhhhhhhhh ) So other than off my food, tired, super sense of smell and the heart burn and no AF I dont really have any symptoms.
See the Midwife on Dec 18th but I suppose I could demand a blood test before then, the NHS is not as supportive of pregnancy as the NZ system.

Kiwikid,..that sounds like loads of symptoms to me! I was only tired at first,..and thats it! It is not usual to have you HCG levels checked unless you have had a MC prviously. Even if you go to the Dr that is not one of the things they routinly check. So try not to worry! I know thats impossible!

Hi July mums to be,
Thought I would join your group. I got my BFP nearly 2 weeks ago and this is baby no 2 for us. We have a 13 month old boy Ollie.
So far I haven't felt too bad but have been pretty tired and the occassional queasy moment and some stretching gone on down there.
Looking forward to sharing info with you all.

Wow - lots of new mums since I last posted. At the moment, life is about going to work, coming home and sleeping and lying on the couch watching TV. I haven't had enough energy (or brain power) to switch on the computer. I don't know how you mums with kids do it!
Most people at work know now. I got to a point where I couldn't hide the symptoms and most people were guessing, so thought I might as well get it out there and then people could cut me some slack.
Met the midwife on Friday which was good. Was 8 weeks yesterday - yay! Go into the second trimester at Christmas/New Year, and I can't wait. My midwife doesn't refer for 12 week scans unless I want nuchal screening (which I don't) so we have to wait till 18 weeks (end of Jan/early Feb) for the 18 week anatomy scan. I was really looking forward to seeing the baby and making sure it was OK. Oh well.
Has anyone been to antenatal courses at West Auckland Parents Centre? Scary to think about that, but apparently you need to book at abut 14 weeks.

Whereabouts are you Flissty? I'm in Hillsborough but Maya is at preschool in New Lynn so we're kind of westies lol. I did my antenatal classes at Birthcare when I was preg with Maya.
*waves to MIllie* My Oct '06 buddy! Wonder how close these babies will be?!
Kiwikid - no symptoms isn't a bad thing! Altho I can see how it would make you angsty! I'm just one of the unlucky ones who gets really sick during pregnancy, but I only know a couple of others who get as sick as I do, most of my friends sail thru with no major dramas. Color me jealous!
Had a pretty cruisy day today. Willie got the girls up to let me have a sleep in, altho that was a bit of a joke coz Miss Maya was in and out every five minutes bugging me to get up to take her to a birthday party which didn't even start till 11.30. Got up and took her to the party, sat in the shade enjoying the fresh air which was nice, then came home and hung out with the kids while Willie had a sleep (he starts work at 4am) and now i'm out on the front porch with the laptop enjoying the fresh air again (oh and ignoring the mess in the kitchen!)

Hi Girls,
Can't believe it's Monday already! I had a pretty much MS-free weekend (which was starting to worry me - how ridiculous is it that I feel horrible when I do have MS, and then feel worried when I don't!), but it seems to be back with a vengance today!
I do have friends that have had no queasy-symptoms whatsoever throughout their pregnancies, so everyone is obviously very different.
I am starting to think about how I'm going to inconspicuosly avoid alcohol etc at work Xmas parties, without telling people!
For those girls on their 2nd+ times here, how early did you tell people (I know it's very individual...just out of curiosity!)
Have a great day all!

I know what you mean! im having the same delema! and I work for a small company which makes it harder! I think im either going to tell them or say im hungover and cant face alcohol or say that im on a detox before christmas and new year?...its a hard one!!!! if you work at a big company you could always say your drinking vodka (lemonade) or drink something out of a wine glass or something? last time I just said to people I was on a diet and decided to cut out alcohol, but somehow dont think that one will wear at my christmas function this year

This is pregnancy # 5 for me and I've told everyone pretty much straight away every time (except my first pregnancy when I was really young but that's a different story). I found that when I had my last m/c it actually *helped* that everyone knew because they were all really supportive. Plus with getting ms as bad as I do I can't hide it for long!

My GP rang this morning, she had just got the scan report and didn't even know I was pregnant lol coz I saw her partner when I went to confirm the pregnancy etc. She was good, couldn't offer any suggestions for the morning sickness that we haven't already tried a thousand times, but nice to know she cares.

Maya I just had my second lot taken today and get the results tomorrow and then maybe another test later on in the week? Im not sure how long I have them for? maybe once a week after this week? until close to the 12 week mark? not sure
thats great that your Gr rang you nice when you have a gp that treats you as a person rather than another patient
hope your morning sickness eases soon
does anyone have any lunch suggestions, so far all ive been having is cheese, tomato and onion either in a sammy or on crackers and I am TOTALLY! over it!
