Well, I figured we had a few posts about going back to work. I'm having trouble adjusting to NOT working actually. I've gone from working full-time to being a full-time mum, and it's driving me CRAZY!!! Don't get me wrong I love Jake to bits. He is adorable and I wouldn't cahnge him for the world. But he is extremely active and is into everything. He's generally good and knows what he can and can't touch, but it's so much harder to cope day-to-day than I thought it would be. I had visions of us going to the park everyday and playing, but the weather has been so crap that we've been inside. jake keeps bringing me his shoes and waiting by the door. then he cries when he can't go out.
I'm finding myself hanging out for the times when he's sleeping.

Whats worse is that I know it's going to get more difficult when B2 arrives. I'm living with Mum so I've got her support, but she works too. I wanna swap places sometimes!! I think I have pre-natal depression!!!!!! or maybe post-post-post-natal. No crying yet, but I'm honestly scared that I'm giong to get really upset once B2 arrives and wanna head it off now. Any ideas? Please say I'm not the only one!

Totally natural - I'm sorry to say - no matter how much i miss my girls - paris especially - i find myself hanging out for daycare again after having her home for a few days - which is alot lately cos of sickness, last 2 weeks were study leave, and of that time she spent only 3 days at daycare! she gets bored, i get tired and cos she's used to having everything there and activities planned all thru the day, i just can't live up to that most of the time.

all i can say is right before baby is born - go get something tnew that will keep Jake REALLLY occupied - mike got paris a dolls house and that's all she did for the first 2 weeks after i had ayja. kept her quiet and gave me some sanity.   It is hard, especially at this end of pregnancy - cos you can't run around and play and all that, I hang out for times when both the girls are asleep so that i can do stuff, assignments, maybe catch up on sleep - but usually end up on here just so i can have others going thru the same stuff as me, and just as stir crazy as i am half the time. lol.

hopefully the weather gets better soon.
It's funny how when you are away from them you just wish they were there, but when you have em 24/7 you think thank god for daycare. Maybe i'm just as depressed but hopefully not - i'm sure others can agree and know what you're going thru too.

Checked out playcentre???
Why not book Jake into a care situation, even for a couple of hours a week.
When I'm home with Hannah I think she gets sick of me more than I get sick of her (Although I hang out for creche as it is!!)

Thanks! Christmas is just before B2 is due so hopefully that will help. I'm going to but him a little bag of toys to have up at the hospital to keep him occupied, and he has some new DVDS that I haven't brought out yet (mum doesn't have a dvd player...yet). Am feeling better today.
I might see if I can get Jake into some kinda daycare. I know he really misses playing with other kids. At Ezibuy the other day he accosted some little girl and grabbed on. He wouldn't let go and she got a little upset. He thought it was funny and giggled. her sister grabbed on and pulled her and Jake grabbed her hood. the poor little thing was almost strangled. Luckily Mum was with him and intervened. I was embarressed and tried to pretend i didn't know them!

For me, the first six months at home were sweet, then Maya went to daycare, and then it was xmas holidays and I found myself thinking "How on earth am I going to entertain this kid for weeks on end?"

In fact, it wasn't as bad as I worried it would be, and now I love having her home during the holidays, but I am still veeeery glad when she goes back to daycare!

I also must admit that I don't do any of the "mummy" type things at home like playdoh, painting etc. I figure she gets all that at daycare. Instead, I have her very well aquainted with St Lukes shopping centre, and she can recognise "The Warehouse" sign.... hmmmm, sensing I maybe shop too much!

Hehe Janine, we're breeding a material generation . Maya's fave shops are JK and Pumpkin Patch tho, not coz she gets new clothes there, but because they have play areas!

She's also a big Warehouse fan, she could recognise the sign at about 18mths, and the other day when I accidentally broke a glass she told me "it's ok Mama, we go to the Warehouse and buy another one".

Haha funni children we have!!

I go to the Playgroup twice a week (runs 3x here but 3 mornings is too much for the little one - and me!) And it is great!! Jake can run off with the other kids, paint, play with water / bubbles / sand, draw, decorate, read etc etc and you can sit with him and help him draw (Arna is only just doing this by herself @ 17 months) or sit down with the other mums and talk or there are also childcare courses you can do. I am doing the first one now and that one is free - not sure about the rest.
You get extrememly involved with Playgroup though, at the mo we have a Garage sale this Saturday to raise money to take the kids to Lollipops for Xmas, have a BBQ on the 11th, Santa is coming in the last week of term etc etc... It's Great fun though!!

I have only worked for two months since Arna was born so what we usually do in a week is:
Mon Arvo: Walk at the beach
Tues: Home day (me to do washing etc!)
Weds Morn: Playgroup (She sleeps for 4 -5 hours in the afternoon!)
Thurs: Walk up and down the road (in the country) or go to the park
Fri Morn: Playgroup, Afternoon: Shopping day in Palmy
Weekend: Dad gets her when he is home!!

Naturally it changes depending on weather, mood, laziness etc but I spend most of my "home" time on here , reading a book or watching Sky (movies and discovery!!)

Good Luck!! *The Novel Writer*

Jake is playing by himself. He's "talking" ont the phone now. Yesterday he sat and watched a baby einstein dvd. I was pretty shocked! Now he's putting a bucket on his ehad....hmmm

i wanna see madagascar. saw it briefly on the tv at kmart and looked kinda funny. we've borrowed some disney movies from friends but they are all too long for Jake. He likes Blues Clues, and Bob the Builder though. He also loves the theme music to Blue Heelers......hmmmm

we went to see madagascar at the movies when I was still pregnant. Peter loved it, I thought it was funny and Joey (in my tummy) wouldn't stop moving the whole time so I guess that means he liked it too!

Maya watched Madagascar on the flight home from Australia a few months ago and loved it, so I have sneakily bought her a copy on DVD and put it away for Xmas. And every time we see the promo posters etc. for it she goes "Mama, Madagascar!" so I know she'll be excited when she gets it...

We've got Shark Tale on DVD too, got it in a big sell out of ex rentals at Video Ezy for about $10.

We got Madagascar from there too, and the calendar is so cool, it's massive!
