I am so seriously broke this year it is not funny, so I am being a real scrooge when it comes to pressies. Mind you, I have laybyed and paid off over $400 of stuff for Maya, and am thinking I might put some of it away for her birthday in Feb coz she has way too much stuff. We're going to bake biscuits for her swimming and ballet teacher and wrap them in little cellophane things with ribbon so that's nice and cheap, and I set a limit of $10 for each of my cousins and actually stuck to it. I was so stoked, the Warehouse had the water version of Twister for $9.88 so I bought that for two of my cousins, it is so cool! Plus, I've been using all of her daycare artwork for wrapping paper. Not to save money so much, more to get rid of it! She brings home 3-4 pictures a day and I just can't bring myself to throw anything away... -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

i so understand the not having the heart to throw away Mayas artwork as i feel the same. needless to say lots of ppl have bits of the boys artwork and im sure they will throw it out but it least its not me. but what a good idea for wrapping pressies. im being scroogey this year too but then the boys had their bday in oct and got heaps then so they really dont need alot and they dont understand xmas yet anyway. its more for my sake that they get pressies . I baked heaps of biscuits and have special christmas cellophane bags from germany that I put them in, tie up with a ribbon and it makes a nice wee pressie. I also have a lovely christmassy walnut chocolate cake recipe and I bake those for special people, wrap them in tin foil and tie a lovely red ribbon around them. I am going to take some photos of Hannah (like I havent got enough!) maybe Xmas themed and make Xmas cards for everyone. Daniel is not very keen on her wearing a santa hat or antlers, but we'll see! Maya's daycare does Xmas cards and calendars with either photos or artwork on them for a fundraiser, so we bought a whole pile. They haven't arrived yet, but I'll post a piccy when they do. I went and bought presents for Mum and Dad and bros and sister today. All up $300, and I felt physically sick when I had to pay for it. Why do we do this to ourselves? I'm part of an MSN group and we did an internet Secret Santa - one person collected all the addresses and dished out names, and then we each bought a $10 pressie for our person and mailed it to them by 1st Dec. We're all going to open them on 15th Dec together which is kind of cool.

uummm. Well, I went xmas shopping with hubby today. He has known about it for WEEKS, we planned to get it all done today, as we are busy from now up until xmas. Well, I would have rather gone with 4 2 year olds. he was terrible. I offered him many occasions to back out before now, but he WANTED to come. Bad idea, as he whinged and moaned so much I only ended up getting 2 things, before I had a major tanty at him and we came home. We had a huge argument in the warehouse over pixi fotos, we went to pick them up, and he had "forgotten" how much I had told him they were. (all done under our breaths, not a big huge yelling fight, even though I felt like I wanted one), and this was BEFORE we even got into town. He would rather go hard out in one shop,and get cr#p, where as I prefer to have a look around and give the pressies some thought.
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Don't know how or when I am going to get it done now, may have to book Jake in for xtra care to do it!! Lewis insists on coming xmas shoppnig also. 2 problems - he hates crowds and flies into NZ on the 23rd of december...hmmmm. So we are off shopping on the 24th. what fun it will be!
I have written a list and got pics of the net of possible presents and found where they are in the shops. You can often look at the shops online which helps so you can browse before you shop. But actually, we are leaving jake with Mum when we go shopping! Hubbies suck at shopping huh! |

i like to "shop" my partner likes to go and buy things. He knows what he wants and he gets it, we women SHOP, look around go on a tangent rah rah rah, tim cant understand that and it drives me NUTZ! sometimes i think hes a lil bit selfish, as long as he gets what he wants we're out of the shop, i cant look around... hmmmm hes a doll really! lol just no fun to shop with at all! im going to do all my xmas shopping by myself! even if he wants to come, HES NOT GUNNA!

Haha I think I have something to look forward to!! (not!) Was going to go yesterday before I took Arna to the Santa Parade (which I thought was boring this year!) But nooooo I have to go in with david next weekend!! We are only getting things for Arna this year as we are getting a puppy in January ($800) so that is mine and Davids pressie... But we are going to have FUN for Arna... I will want to get her one thing, David will want to get something else and we will end up getting both after a huge argument... I can see it all now...

am going to gloat... lol, cos i feel proud of ourselves... we havce all of our shopping done, and wrapped in our wardrobe, cupboards etc... only have 1 layby still to collect with the cubby house in it. yayayay we buy stuff through the year at sales - so our wardrobe is always full, lol. but it's nice at this time have actually gotten it all done, usually we are fine for the kids, but everyone elses is left till last minute. ------------- Janine and her 2 cool chicks, Paris & Ayja

Nathaniel loves to shop! Sometimes he's worse than me! We've done the majority of our christmas shopping, and we boxed the wrapped presents up and posted them to my inlaws place. Haha I am going to sympathise with you now Becca! We went to Hamilton for a month inbetween farming jobs and it just happened to be Arna's birthday when we were there so we went up with the boot full and a pillow next to Arna and on the way back Arna was squeezed into the corner in the back! We got pulled up by the cops on the way home for a "taillight not working" - and didn't say anything about the overloaded car!!
