I'm just wondering if we're likely to need a carry cot similar to this

I'm just thinking of when bubs is quite young & we went out to friends for dinner or I went to the hairdresser, for example. What do we do with baby? We won't be using a capsule carseat & I don't think a sling or front pack would be useful in these sorts of situations. Any ideas? -------------

Hannah used to sleep quite happily in her buggy as it went flat. I just put a nice thick blanket underneath her and she was all wrapped up like in bed, and she was very happy.  ------------- Aimee Hannah 22/10/05 Greer 11/02/08 |

We have a Phil and Teds cocoon which is similar. We used it HEAPS!!! Not only in the buggy laying down, but for times like you said, friends houses etc. I used to take it to Coffee group even, as Cooper wasn't (and still isn't!) awake for more than an hour and I didn't want him a) getting used to sleeping on me and b) not flat, laying in his carseat.
We also used it in the early weeks when I was sooooo tired but too scared to sleep with him in our bed. We'd put him in that then put it between the two of us. Both of us could share the rocking that way!! And if I needed to just put a hand out on his chest he was just there. Cooper is 3 1/2 months old, and he's big! (7kg and 64cm long) He only just fits in it now, but we used it just last week. hope that helps ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I have the Mountain Buggy carry cot attachment, it is brilliant! I would have to say it is one my best purchases and I have had my moneys worth already and Lauren is only 6 weeks old! We also take it to bbq's at friends houses, means she can sleep away next to me without a bother!

We had a carry cot for our mountain buggy. I used it mostly when she were out and about and Ella usually slept pretty well in it. We tried using it at my parents house when we went over there for dinner, but she would never sleep in it. It was really useful, but she outgrew it so quickly (she is quite a long baby and was too tall for it at 3 months old). i guess it depends on how much you'd like to be going out with baby - if you're sociable and want lots of outings, I'd think it'd be really handy. Can't use them for long though so wouldn't seem worth paying a great deal for one. I'll be getting something similar next time around. ------------- Andie |

Thanks girls. I think we'll just wait & see if we need one or not. I was mostly thinking of times when I might go to hairdresser (which is located up a lot of stairs) or other places where it's not practical to take the stroller. There are some for quite cheap on trademe... -------------

We have got the MB one too that fits on the buggy wheels, its fantastic as I can put him to "bed" then go out for a walk! We have used it a couple of times when we have been out for BBQs and although he isnt particularly easy to settle in it he will sleep eventually.
