This year i have thought long and hard about how to save money on xmas as we have gone all out in the past and its been for ning really!,,im so happy to say that i have done so well this year!! (well i think so! lol).

Heres the deal - We bought Bay a big boy bike off TM for $40 which is normally $200!! it had rusted screws, scratched up frames and flat tyres so DH (being the MR fix it that he is ) touched up the paint and buffed out the scratches, fixed the tyres, polished up the crome and bike and replaced the screws and it seriously looks like a NEW bike!! (must put a photo up!), i also bought a set of 10 plastic jars for $1 off TM) and made heaps of playdough and bought a 100peice set of cutters for $10! from TWH, got him a new lightning McQueen (LM) tshirt off TM from a parallell importer for $8, a new LM bag from the same dude for $9, a new LM minkee blanket from the same dude for $15, some spiderman jandels for $4 from a paralell import shop in whakatane,
For Astin i had bought 2 big playskool toys NEW off TM a while ago still in packaging and put them away for xmas! and i went halves with my MIL to buy him a playskool discovery dome,
I bought my BIL 30 second hand golf balls for $6 from TM (hes into his golf!)and prettyed up an box full of lollies with the golf balls in,
for the folks and sister and SIL we bought those sets of photos blocks off TM and printed some neat photos for 15cents each!
Ad i also bought this HUGE box of lollies and goodies which included 24 xmas jelly pops, 2kgs of chocolate, 100 golden coins, 100 jafas and a whole lot more all for $30 and the dude threw in heaps of extras and that was from a food distributer! , that filled all the stockings ten fold! and made lovely lolly bags for every family member!
the neices and nephews all got a brats, thomas and bob tshirt from that same TM dude.

ALL IN ALL - VERY PROUD OF MY BUYS!!

anyone else done great things with limited funds for xmas ????

I'm sewing Christmas presents (should probably get off here and finish them!) for most people in my family. Making some homemade baking in a few days to go with some presents.

In the past I have made a calendar with pics of DD but this year I didn't have as much time. It worked out quite a bit cheaper than getting it printer professionally, but took soooo much time to do, including binding it myself!

we are building the boys a train table - still under $100 at the moment, but we might polyurethane it - so another $20 perhaps. But still a lot less than the $300 in shops. Lewis is also eyeing it up for a "risk" table.
